Team News

  • Stephane Mbia will be out for a month after suffering a thigh injury in midweek. Marseille are very low on centre-backs. Rod Fanni will continue to cover in the middle.
  • Andre-Pierre Gignac has returned to training this week but is unlikely take part in the game.
  • Souleymane Diawara returned from the ACON but will probably not start.
  • Deschamps will be without Charles Kabore, Jordan and Andre Ayew as they are playing at the African Cup of Nations.
  • It may be a step too for for Cris to play against a team of Marseille's quality. Don't be surprised if Maxime Gonalons plays in defence.
  • Remi Garde will likely battle OM with his 4-4-2 and the strike partnership of Gomis and Lisandro.

Prediction

  • One of the biggest games of the season, especially for Marseille. A win would take them above Lyon and continue their ascension up the Ligue 1 ladder. With Lucho Gonzalez gone and the Ayew brothers still away, there will be another chance for Brandao to make his mark this season.
  • Both teams will be on a high after they both booked their place in the Coupe de France final. Lyon will be tired after a tough game against Lorient that took extra-time to separate the two sides. Remi Garde will be relying on adrenaline to see them through such a big game.
  • Too close to call, this one. Marseille have the home advantage and the momentum at this point in the season. Lyon won comfortably the last time these two sides met, though they are unlikely to do so again.
  • PREDICTION: Marseille win 2-0
