Team News

  • It is unlikely that Rene Girard will make any changes to his side after the win against Nice last week.
  • Midfielder Benjamin Stambouli was voted Montpellier's player of the month and will continue in the midfield.
  • Montpellier will be without Souleymane Camara, Abdelhamid El Kaoutari, Younes Belhanda and Jamel Saihi as they are playing at the African Cup of Nations.
  • Jonathan Zebina has been struggling with a back injury, he has been training but the discomfort could see him miss the match.
  • Paul Baysse could also miss the match as he has been sick this week.
  • Gregory Lorenzi (thigh), Tripy Makonda (knee), Larsen Toure (groin), Brahim Ferradji (knee), Jonathan Ayite (thigh), Tomas Micola (knee), Jhom Culma (hip) and Abel Khaled will all miss the game.
  • Brest will be without Omar Daf, Mois Brou Apanga, Ahmed Kantari and Ousmane Coulibaly as they are playing at the African Cup of Nations.

Prediction

  • The good ship Montpellier continues on course for European football. A slight scare after Olivier Giroud missed a penalty but the striker continued his hero status with the late winner. Not an inspiring performance but the sort of tough win the top teams always pull out.
  • Expected to be put to the sword, Brest played relatively well against the league leaders. After going behind early on to PSG, more goals were expected but the home side stood firm and a loss by a single goal is nothing to be ashamed of. All Alex Dupont's side need to do now is find a way to win. With Nolan Roux gone the pressure will be on new strikers Alphonse and Issam Jemaa to provide the goals.
  • The home side will be confident of another win in front of La Palliade. With every three points collected, the closer they come to a Champions League finish. This game shouldn't be any different.
  • PREDICTION: Montpellier win 3-1
