Team News

  • Both Florent Sinama Pongolle and Faouzi Ghoulam are suspended for the Lorient game. Jonathan Brison or Albin Ebondo will likely replace Ghoulam at full back.
  • Loic Perrin, Alejandro Alonso and Danijel Aleksic are recovering from knocks but will not take part.
  • Not included in the squad were Loris Nery, Yoric Ravet and Yoann Andreu.
  • Added to the long list of injuries are midfielders Yann Jouffre and Mathieu Coutadeur. Maxime Barthelme and Mathias Autret could be in line for a starting spot.
  • Fabien Audard is still suspended whereas Wesley Lautoa, Jeremie Aliadiere, Maxime Baca, Julien Quercia, Gregory Bourillon and Gilles Sunu are all injured.
  • Returning from suspension is defender Lamine Kone who could take youngster Falette’s place in the centre of defence.

Prediction

  • Abandoned after 10 minutes the first time around this game now comes with huge importance as St-Etienne look to build on the magnificent 4-0 home win over Rennes. If results go Les Verts way, they could end the evening in 3rd place.
  • And with striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back from the African Nations, there is nothing to stop them taking all three points.
  • Lorient performed well to keep Lille at bay for most of Saturday’s encounter, unfortunately for Les Merlus they just didn’t have that extra bit of quality to capitalize on their great play. Christian Gourcuff knows that the six wins they have amassed this season is not good enough for the ambitions the club has.
