Team News

  • Mevlut Erding could return upfront after missing out against Lorient, while Youssef Hadji will make the bench this time.
  • Antonetti has to decide what centre-backs to play and whether to stick with Boye and Mangane. However, Apam returns from suspension and should play.
  • Midfielder Alain Traore could return this weekend. He scored a double for the reserves mid-week and should be in the match-day squad.
  • Delvin Ndinga is a doubt after picking up a sprain during training.
  • Last weekend's substitute Anthony Le Tallec is suspended after his red card last week.

Prediction

  • Both these sides have something in common having both taken points off the Champions in the last two weeks. Auxerre battled back in the last 10 minutes to steal a 2-2 draw, while Rennes stunned Lille with a 94th minute equaliser at home to salvage a point.
  • Rennes will look to dominate the game, as they did at home to Lille. The performance last week against Lorient was workman like, but very clinical. Frederic Antonetti’s side will hope to get the better of Auxerre but this could be harder than the league table might show.
  • Auxerre have in-form Denis Oliech upfront and his pace and power will be a good test for whatever centre back pairing the Rennes manager goes with. Rennes should have enough for the win, but don’t count out Auxerre as Lille did.
Prediction:
2
