Team News

  • DJ Campbell struck his first goal for the team he supported as a boy from the bench last time out and could replace Jay Bothroyd upfront, who is yet to score for his new club.
  • Danny Gabbidon was forced off late on in Rangers' 3-0 win over Wolves last time out and is a doubt, meaning Fitz hall could take his place alongside Anton Ferdinand.
  • Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips have both impressed with the latter set to be monitored by Fabio Capello this weekend, while right-back Luke Young will play against his former club just weeks after leaving for London.
  • Former Tottenham duo Darren Bent and Jermaine Jenas are both doubtful for the match but are likely to start if they can pass late fitness tests.
  • Stephen Warnock and Stiliyan Petrov both suffered from respective hip and ankle problems against Newcastle but were both deemed fit to start against Bolton in the midweek cup defeat. They could be rested for the away clash.
  • If Bent is not fit then in form Gabby Agbonlahor will play upfront with either Marc Albrighton or Stephen Ireland likely to come into a 5-man midfield.

Prediction

  • This game is likely to be a tight one. 3 of each of the sides 5 games have seen 2 or less goals scored. Between them the two sides have failed to score on 5 five occasions. Villa have drawn 4 of their 5 games already this season, including their last 3, and although the fans are growing frustrated by a lack of attacking intent at home, the visitors would probably take a point against an in from QPR side who have kept successive clean sheets.
  • QPR have started games reasonably well this season, scoring 3 of their 4 goals within the first 30 minutes of matches but Villa have only conceded 1 first half goal all season. The hosts have not conceded in the first half an hour at all but have shipped all of their 6 goals against between the 40th and 80th minute.
  • This game is likely to start off slowly with the likes of Barton and Faurlin controlling the tempo for the hosts but Villa will be hoping to make a good start to the second half, when QPR are most susceptible to conceding.
  • WHOSCORED.COM Predicts: Draw 1-1
