Team News

  • Liverpool welcome Luis Suarez back to the side after an 8-match suspension and the Uruguayan could go straight back into the starting line-up despite Carroll, Kuyt and Bellamy all scoring last time out.
  • Dalglish could line-up with a 4-4-2 formation, but must decide between the likes of Spearing, Henderson, Adam and Downing in midfield.
  • The back-four will remain unchanged from the 3-0 win over Wolves in midweek.
  • Harry Redknapp will have left much of the preparation for the Liverpool game down to Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan having spent much of the week on trial for tax evasion.
  • The wheeler-dealer did manage to bring in two rather strange signings on deadline day though, with veterans Louis Saha and Ryan Nelsen both joining the club and Pavlyuchenko and Pienaar leaving.
  • Lennon and Defoe are both severe doubts for Monday night's game, while van der Vaart and Walker could also miss out, though the latter should be fit.
  • Younes Kaboul has been ruled out with a knee injury, so Michael Dawson should partner Ledley King at the heart of the Spurs defence.

Prediction

  • Tottenham have won their last 3 league fixtures against Liverpool including a 4-0 romp that saw the visitors reduced to 9-men earlier in the season and a 2-0 victory at Anfield in the previous campaign.
  • Liverpool are still unbeaten at home but have drawn 7 of their 11 league matches in front of their own fans this season and will need to start turning those results into victories if they are to compete for the final Champions League spot.
  • Spurs have only won one of their last 4 away matches and face a Liverpool side on a real high who have shown that they can cut it with the best of them in the past week. Without the likes of Lennon and potentially van der Vaart, the away side could struggle to break down a resolute home defence.
