Team News

  • Michael Rensing should return from injury and could replace Miro Varvodic in goal again.
  • Christian Eichner returns from injury as well and could replace
  • Andrézinho at left-back.
  • Adil Chihi and Slawomir Peszko compete for the spot on the right wing.
  • With Raphael Schäfer and Patrick Rakovsky both injured, third keeper Alexander Stephan will probably start in goal.
  • Alexander Esswein could start on the left wing, instead of Christian Eigler.
  • On the right wing, Robert Mak could be an option to replace Jens Hegeler.

Prediction

  • The international break should have helped Cologne's team to continue to adapt to manager Sobakken's system. Their defensive organisation has been a huge problem so far this season and the returns of Michael Rensing and Christian Eichner should add more stability to their back four again.
  • Nürnberg did not have an exciting start to the season, but the team has performed very solidly and, defensively in particular, already found consistency. Offensively they sometimes lacked ideas and have to create more chances though.
  • This could become a close game and, depending on Cologne's game plan, both teams could start carefully. At home, Cologne should be slight favourites, but they won't be able to afford too many mistakes defensively.
  • WHOSCORED.COM Predicts: Cologne win 2-1
