Team News

  • Real Zaragoza's incredible run continued as they have now won six of their last ninegames, having previously won only four of their first 27 matches.
  • A 1-0 win over Levante in midweek brought Manolo Jimenez's side to within three points of safety, but they will need to pick up at least four points from the last available six as the team directly above them, Rayo Vallecano, have a better head-to-head record.
  • Victory on Wednesday also came at a cost as Franco Zuculini has been hospitalised with a bruised kidney.
  • Carlos Aranda also remains out with a hamstring injury so Jimenez is expected to go with the bulk of the side that have accumulated six points already this week.
  • Racing picked up only their third point in 11 games under Alvaro Cervera as they drew 1-1 at Getafe in the lunchtime kick-off on Tuesday.
  • Pedro Munitis has been ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up a hamstring injury in that game and Cervera has outlined his intention to give a number of youngsters an opportunity in the final two games of the season.
  • Adrián returns from suspension and there could also be recalls for Edu Bedia and Gonzalo Colsa.

Prediction

  • The only threat to Zaragoza's charge towards safety in this one could be complacency as everyone, including their relegation rivals, assumes this will be a straightforward home win.
  • Racing haven't won since mid-January but did show impressive spirit to come back from a goal down in midweek and their young players could cause some problems.
  • However, Zaragoza's confidence and experience should be more than enough to take the relegation fight down to the last day.
