Team News

  • Donadoni is going to keep the line-up he prepared for the match against Fiorentina: a 3-5-2 without Biabiany.
  • Gobbi will play in the middle of the field as Galloppa is still not fit. Modesto will patrol the left flank.
  • Mirante should be fully recovered from his injury, but he is in competition with Pavarini to be in the starting XI.
  • Simone Pepe will not travel to Parma, so Conte is likely to field a 3-5-2 with Vucinic partnering Matri.
  • De Ceglie and Estigarribia are in contention for a spot on the left flank, while Lichtsteiner should be pretty safe to play.
  • Caceres may sit on the bench, unless Bonucci drops from his starting spot.

Prediction

  • Parma are unbeaten since the first match of the year (at San Siro), and they seem to have managed their defensive problems, conceding just three goals in their last four matches. Donadoni is working to make the team adapt to the 3-5-2, and as Juventus are likely to use the same formation, the coach may well stick with it to match the opponents' line-up.
  • Despite being unbeaten, potential table-toppers and free from the pressures of European competition, Juventus are always under the microscope as everybody is waiting for Conte's team to drop points. However, The Old Lady have been without a title for too long and the coach knows that better than anyone else. He is working hard to focus on the way they achieved their success so far rather than how distant the goal of winning the title still is.
  • As they are still some distance away from the relegation zone despite missing two matches Parma may think of this game as a chance to gain "extra points", with no pressure on themselves. However, at the same time they have a pretty hard fixture list ahead (Roma, Genoa, Napoli, Fiorentina), so Donadoni could use this chance to try and get one point instead of taking pointless risks.
  • Conte will be travelling to Parma with the sole intention of picking up all 3 points as dropping any now could show a weakness in a key moment of the season and give precious strength to their rival title contenders. Juventus will bring their usual aggressiveness, and a good use of the flanks may well win the match. It will be interesting to see which solution the coaches will pick on Parma's right side, with Valiani and De Ceglie the defensive alternatives for their respective sides, and Biabiany and Estigarribia the attacking ones.
