The Premier League trio of Morten Gamst Pedersen, John Arne Riise and Brede Hangeland are 3 of only 4 players aged over 30 in Egil Olsen's squad.
Midfielders Markus Henriksen and Valon Berisha are two of Norway’s most exciting talents and will hope to start behind Mohammed Abdellaoue up front.
Crystal Palace left-back Jonathan Parr has been recalled to the squad along with Rennes' defensive midfielder Alexander Tettey, while Rogne and Nordtveit are injured and will miss the game.
Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney has a minor injury and will miss out, while United teammate Danny Welbeck, along with Glen Johnson, missed training in midweek.
The Chelsea players in the squad are likely to be rested due to their Champions League exploits so the likes of Baines, Lescott and Jones could get a chance to start in defence.
Hodgson confirmed on Friday that Green, Parker, Gerrard, Carroll and Jagielka will all start, but it remains to be seen whether Theo Walcott will. He ended the Premier League season on the sidelines and could be given more time to fully recover, with Hodgson perhaps keen to test Oxlade-Chamberlain on the international stage prior to the Euros.
Prediction
Although England are likely to field a youthful looking side, Norway could have as many youngsters on show, mixed with some Premier League experience from the likes of Hangeland, Riise and Pedersen.
Hodgson will hope to utilize the pace on the flanks and is likely to use Andy Carroll at some stage or another to offer an aerial threat in an otherwise diminutive attack line.
The new England manager will be desperate to get off to a winning start in an attempt to win over the fans, with an away game first up perhaps the most favourable situation and England should win, even without Rooney.
Nordtveit is injured and will miss out, same with Celtics Thomas Rogne. Norway play either 4-1-4-1 or 4-4-1-1 and Tettey will likely come on for Nordtveit in the defensive role. Berisha will probably not start, Tolouses Daniel Braaten and Fredrikstads Tarik Elyounoussi are probably ahead of him.
