Prediction

  • Brest go into their clash with Valenciennes on the back of a disappointing result at Nice. Landry Chauvin's men were soundly beaten on the South Coast as their inconsistent run of form continues.
  • Meanwhile Valenciennes continued their solid start to the campaign as they held Francis Gillot's in-form Bordeaux. Les Atheniens have lost just one game so far this season, and possess one of the sternest defences in the league having conceded just three goals in five games.
  • Brest have struggled for goals in the early going, but have found ways to edge past both Evian and Troyes in their two home games. Chauvin will be hoping that his side can continue their good home form and turn the Stade Francis Le-Ble into a fortress.
  • In order to do that Brest will need the likes ofEden Ben Basat, who scored the winner in their most recent triumph over Troyes, to find his goalscoring feet and move them into the top half of the table.
  • Valenciennes on the other hand will need Vincent Aboubakar and Anthony Le Tallec to deliver the goals as they attempt to maintain their position in the league's top six.
  • Do not expect goals from this fixture, which will surely be a tight and cagey encounter. Chauvin's side have been especially difficult to overcome at the Francis Le-Ble, and home advantage may well be enough to inspire them to a slender win.
