Team News

  • Souleymane Diawara is expected to be out until the end of September as he recovers from a ruptured cruciate ligament.
  • Joey Barton is still unavailable for domestic competition due to suspension.
  • Eric Tie Bi is expected to be out for a considerable length of time after sustaining knee and ankle injuries in a reserve game.

Prediction

  • Marseille are yet to taste defeat this season after they followed up their 1-0 win over Nancy with a fine comeback at Fenerbache in the Europa League on Thursday.
  • Elie Baup's men were 2-0 down going into the final ten minutes in Turkey, but a goal from Mathieu Valbuena and a injury time equaliser from Andre Ayew earned them a point from a tricky away trip.
  • Evian also tasted success last week as a Cedric Barbosa brace inspired them to a 3-0 win over Bastia. Yannick Sagbo also finally got his name on the scoresheet as the men from Annecy notched their first win of the campaign.
  • The visitors will have a tough time repeating that feat this weekend however as they face a defence that has conceded just one goal so far this campaign.
  • Pascal Dupraz's men will also have to guard against a potent Marseille attack. Joey Barton will not be available for selection after making his debut for the club in the game against Fenerbache, however, Baup's side are blessed with a multitude of great attacking players including the in-form Ayew brothers and top scorer Andre-Pierre Gignac.
  • Marseille have been outstanding going forward and as a defensive unit, and it is difficult to see Evian, in spite of their improved performance last week, ending L'OM's unbeaten run. A comfortable home win is all you should expect from this one.
