Team News

  • Gael Angoula is suspended after being sent-off against Ajaccio.
  • Fethi Harek is also banned following his dismissal at Lyon.
  • Yassin El Azzouzi is still recovering from a long-term injury, while Ilan is a doubt due to a thigh problem.
  • Dusan Djuric and Kama Massampu are both out due to knee problems.
  • Anthony Le Tallec is also expected to miss out with an achilles injury, so striker Gregory Pujol will be expected to continue to fill the void in his absence.

Prediction

  • Two of the division's top scorers meet this weekend when Bastia welcome Valenciennes to Corsica.
  • Newly-promoted Bastia have netted 17 times this season while Valenciennes have already found the net on 23 occasions so far. However, the two sides enjoyed very different fortunes last time out. Bastia were thumped 5-2 by Lyon while Valenciennes eased past Sochaux by three goals to one.
  • Les Atheniens coasted to victory despite the absence of Anthony Le Tallec, and Daniel Sanchez's men continue to be able to find goals throughout the team. Midfielders Gael Danic, Mathieu Dossevi and Foued Kadir have all scored this term, while Gregory Pujol increased his tally to three with a double last weekend.
  • Danic is undoubtedly the danger-man for Valenciennes, the 30-year-old has two goals and five assists, and Frederic Hantz's men will need to stop the attacking midfielder if they are to take all three points.
  • Bastia have a number of exciting players themselves, but while the likes of Wahbi Khazri and Florian Thauvin have caused teams problems in recent weeks, Valenciennes should be able to exploit a defence that has conceded 26 goals in 11 games, and earn a hard-fought away win.
