Team News

  • Evian have a slew of injury concerns going into this weekend's contest.
  • Jonathan Mensah is out due to a thigh injury, and Cedric Barbosa also misses out with a hamstring problem.
  • Ali M'Madi is still recovering from a thigh problem, while David Jarolim will be absent with a similar injury.
  • Top scorer Saber Khelifa remains on the sidelines and manager Pascal Dupraz may well be inclined to stick with striker Youssef Adnane, who hit the target in the victory over Reims last weekend.
  • Saint-Etienne also have a number of players missing due to injury, but should still be able to field a near full strength side.
  • Ismael Diomande is still a long-term absentee due to a thigh injury, while Banel Nicolita is out with a similar problem.
  • Kurt Zouma is still struggling with an ankle injury, and Danijel Aleksic is also unavailable.
  • Manager Christophe Galtier is likely to stick with the same team that has taken Les Verts to the top four, expect both Brandao and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to feature in the starting line-up.

Prediction

  • Two sides that have endured very different starts to the season meet in Annecy as Evian play host to high-flying Saint-Etienne.
  • Pascal Dupraz's men earned victory against Ligue 1 new boys Reims last weekend, however they are still just a few points above the relegation zone. By contrast Saint-Etienne are just two points off the top following their slender win over Troyes.
  • Veteran midfielder Renaud Cohade was on target for Christophe Galtier's side who once again demonstrated their ability to find goals from all areas of the field. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Brandao have been the stars of the season for the men from the Rhone, but with the likes of Cohade and Romain Hamouma in their side, Evian will need to sure that they are on top form defensively if they are to have any chance of gaining a positive result.
  • Saint-Etienne will go into the game as heavy favourties, and they should have more enough quality to justify that tag and keep pace with leaders PSG and Marseille.
