Team News

  • PSG have a number of big names missing for the visit of Rennes.
  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic serves the final game of a two match ban, while Mamadou Sakho is also banned following his dismissal against Montpellier.
  • Gregory Van der Wiel will also serve a one match suspension and with Christophe Jallet still struggling with a thigh injury, manager Carlo Ancelotti may have to re-shuffle things at the back.
  • Mathieu Bodmer has a groin problem, while fellow midfielder Mohamed Sissoko also misses out through injury.
  • The Parisians will still be able to call on the likes of Jeremy Menez and Ezequiel Lavezzi. The pair combined well in the draw with last year's champions and Ancelotti will look for the duo to produce similar performances this weekend.
  • Frederic Antonetti could be without two first team regulars for the trip to the Parc Des Princes.
  • Jonathan Pitroipa is a doubt with a knee problem, while Kevin Theophile-Catherine could also miss out with a thigh injury.
  • Victor Montano is out with a foot problem, and the Rennes' boss will need to decide how to replace the considerable threat Pitroipa as the men from Brittany aim to break down one of the league's most stubborn defences.

Prediction

  • PSG welcome Rennes to the Parc Des Princes hoping to recapture their form following a couple of poor results.
  • The capital club - who slipped to their first defeat of the season against Saint-Etienne two weeks ago - could only manage a draw in Montpellier after being reduced to 10 men early in the game, a result that keeps them top of the table, but level on points with rivals Marseille.
  • Carlo Ancelotti's side will be without talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic once more this weekend, as he serves the second and final game of his suspension, Jeremy Menez and Ezequiel Lavezzi should provide PSG with plenty of attacking impetus in his stead, but the Parisians will have to be on their game defensively against a Rennes' attack that has performed brilliantly in recent weeks.
  • Mevlut Erding - the striker who spent three years with PSG before moving to Rennes last season - has already netted six goals this term, while Romain Alessandrini and Jonathan Pitroipa have both produced excellent displays.
  • Expect an exciting, high-tempo with plenty of goals, PSG have struggled recently, but they should be able to overcome the men from Brittany even without the considerable talent of Ibrahimovic.
