Team News

  • Midfielder Jean Makoun and defender John Boye are both doubts with thigh injuries, while Abdoulaye Sane and Victor Montano are still on the sidelines.
  • Vincent Pajot returns from suspension, but Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik and Yassine Jebbour are both banned after being sent off against Nice.
  • Valenciennes suffered a huge blow in the midweek defeat to PSG, when Gael Danic - arguably their best player this season - suffered a broken leg midway through the second half.
  • The midfielder will now be absent for two months, and he joins defender Gil - who has a hamstring injury - and Remi Gomis on the sidelines.
  • Pape Abdou Camara, Mody Traore, Dusan Djuric and Kama Massampu are all still unavailable through injury.

Prediction

  • Rennes take on Valenciennes at the Route de Lorient looking to recover after suffering a slump in form.
  • Frederic Antonetti's men have dropped five points in their past two games following slip ups against both Brest and Nice. Valenciennes are also aiming to bounce back after they were hammered 4-0 by Paris Saint-Germain.
  • The home side will likely look to top scorer Mevlut Erding, along with Romain Alessandrini and Jonathan Pitroipa to capitalise on a Valenciennes defence that may well be low on confidence following the defeat against PSG.
  • Expect an open, attacking game with plenty of chances, but with Valenciennes suffering from a number of injuries to key players, Rennes should be able to overcome Daniel Sanchez's side and earn victory.
