  • After a convincing performance and a 3-1 win against West Ham at the weekend, Andre Villas-Boas may be tempted to stick with the same lineup for the visit of Liverpool.
  • Mousa Dembele has stepped up the progress for his return, having appeared as a substitute at Lazio and at the weekend, though he still may not be ready to start just yet.
  • Emmanuel Adebayor remains suspended, but Jermain Defoe is doing his best to show everyone that he is not going to be missed, with the England striker netting twice at the weekend and putting in a committed performance.
Liverpool
  • Andre Wisdom was subbed off in the Europa League tie with Bern Young Boys last week and subsequently missed the draw at Swansea despite Brendan Rodgers declaring he "should be fine" to play. He will likely be back in contention here.
  • That could mean that Stewart Downing will drop to the bench and Glen Johnson could switch to left-back.
  • Jose Enrique may retain his advanced role on the left, after a few good performances there, while Lucas, Kelly and Borini remain absent.

Prediction

  • Spurs fans will be hoping that the victory over West Ham at the weekend - and a marked improvement in their performance in the second half - will be the start of a better run in form after three consecutive defeats prior to that.
  • Things are starting to look up for Brendan Rodgers' side, who are unbeaten in 8 league games, though they have drawn five of those matches. They are on the verge of entering the top half of the table, slowly but surely making their way up the league, and certainly starting to play better football as well.
  • Liverpool are becoming a difficult team to beat, and since losing 3-0 at West Brom on the opening day of the season, they have not lost in domestic competition away from home. If Spurs have Dembele back, though, and Bale playing anything like he did against West Ham, they might well continue their run of beating Liverpool at home, having won their last 5 at White Hart Lane against the Reds in all competitions.
