Team News

  • Gareth Barry returns from suspension and could go straight into central midfield alongside Javi Garcia or Yaya Toure, though the latter may be needed in a more advanced position with Samir Nasri all but certain to miss out.
  • Vincent Kompany could miss out once again due to a groin injury, so Kolo Toure will continue to deputise in central defence.
  • Mario Balotelli has missed a couple of training sessions this week due to illness and may be unavailable as a result.
  • Jason Roberts is a doubt after missing the last two matches due to injury, so Pogrebnyak will vie with Adam Le Fondre for a spot up front alongside Noel Hunt.
  • Jem Karacan could make his long-awaited return having had the last week to build up his match fitness after injury.
  • Sean Morrison remains injured so Gorkss and Mariappa will continue together at the back.

Prediction

  • This is one of those games where you can't help but fear for the underdogs, with City's array of talent likely to cut through the Reading defence with consumate ease here. The away side could be in for a real hiding.
  • City have made a habit of seeing off lesser opposition at home by large goal margins, and they could well do so again here. Reading have lost their last 6 Premier League games, conceding 17 goals in that time, including 8 in their last 2 outings. There is every chance that they will ship a few more this time out.
  • City have won all 13 of the Premier League matches that Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez have started together, and with the Argentine duo set to start again, they could well extend that run.
