Team News

  • Adam Johnson limped off in the second half at Southampton and is a doubt, while both Cattermole and Brown remain sidelined.
  • If the winger isn't fit enough Seb Larsson may move back out wide with Craig Gardner moving into the midfield.
  • Phil Bardsley will hope for a chance at right-back but elsewhere the team should remain unchanged.
  • Karim Rekik made his league debut for City at left-back in the absence of Clichy and Kolarov, though the former could be back in contention on Wednesday.
  • Vincent Kompany was rested against Reading but should return to the side in place of Kolo Toure.
  • Elsewhere James Milner will hope for a start after making his comeback from injury and he may replace Javi Garcia or Carlos Tevez.

Prediction

  • Sunderland have won each of their last two matches at the Stadium of Light 1-0 and are unbeaten in three home matches against the league champions.
  • Mancini will hope for a much more comprehensive display than he witnessed against Reading in order to end that run and continue to bridge the gap with United at the top.
  • Sunderland have won two of their last three games to claw themselves out of the bottom three but another repeat of the wins over City in recent seasons seems unlikely.
