  • West Brom are without Youssuf Mulumbu, away on international duty at the African Cup of Nations, and with Brunt and Yacob both doubtful they may have a selection dilemma in midfield.
  • Jonas Olsson is back fit, however, and should return to partner Gareth McAuley, while Odemwingie will vie for a start with Jerome Thomas following Zoltan Gera's knee injury.

  • Karim El Ahmadi is unavailable for selection as he is on international duty with Morocco, while the likes of Bent, Albrighton and Herd are all set to remain on the sidelines.
  • Lambert's main selection problems thus far have been who to play at left-back and who, out of Delph, Bannan and Westwood, will fill the two centre-midfield spots.

Prediction

  • The tables have definitely turned in the Midlands with West Brom undoubtedly ruling the roost over Villa, who used to frequently come out as the top team in the second city.
  • The last two games between the sides have been drawn, though West Brom have only beaten their rivals once in their 13 Premier League encounters.
  • The visitors are without a win in 5 league games and desperately need to start picking up points having dropped back into the relegation zone last weekend. Absentees for the hosts could play a part.
