Team News

  • With Kyriakos Papadopoulos still injured, Joel Matip will start at centre-back.
  • Julian Draxler and Tranquillo Barnetta compete for the spot on the left wing, with Ibrahim Afellay out injured.
  • Lewis Holtby, who signed a pre-contract agreement with Spurs this month, is doubtful with a minor injury. New signing Raffael will probably start on the bench.
  • Ciprian Marica will replace the injured Klaas-Jan Huntelaar up front.
  • Konstantin Rausch and Christian Pander compete for the spot at left-back.
  • New signing Johan Djourou could replace Karim Haggui at centre-back.
  • With Lars Stindl still injured, Jan Schlaudraff could get another chance on the right wing.
  • Didier Ya Konan is at the AFCON and won't be available in January. Artur Sobiech and Mohammed Abdellaoue compete for his spot up front.

  • Schalke were in very poor form before the winter break and manager Stevens was sacked as a result. Interim manager Keller has had a lot of work to do, but it remains to be seen how quickly he can turn things around.
  • Hannover had a mixed first half to their season, but after the contract extension with manager Slomka and some sensible winter transfers, they have a good foundation for a successful second half.
  • Expect this to be a close game; both teams were out of form in December.

  • Good for people watching the game, that the teams lost their concentration. Especially in the 2nd half with 8 of 9 goals... In terms of tactics definetely 2 of the best German teams...
