Zaragoza ended last season in sparkling form to retain their place in the league and Manolo Jimenez hasn't been forced into too many drastic cutbacks over the summer.
Helder Postiga remains as the focal point up front, whilst Ndri Romaric could be an important signing based on his form for Espanyol last season and Apono has made his loan move from Malaga permanent.
There has also been a host of new arrivals in defence, but that still appears the weakest area of the side with Alvaro Gonzalez and Glenn Loovens expected to start.
Valladolid were the third side to have been promoted last season as they came up via the playoffs.
Miroslav Djukic's side were deserving of their place in the top-flight having finished third by some way in the regular season, but may find it tough going in the Primera.
Antonio Rukavina, Patrick Ebert and Lluis Sastre could all make their debuts at La Romareda, whilst the creative burden will fall upon former Zaragoza playmaker Oscar Gonzalez.
Prediction
Djukic has already proven in the Segunda that he is a tactically astute coach and will no doubt have a well-orchestrated plan to stifle Zaragoza, who struggled for goals despite their run of victories towards the end of the season.
However, Postiga and Edu Oriol in particular always seemed to come up with one or two pieces of quality to bail them out, and with Apono and Romaric alongside the frontmen there is now a genuine goal threat from midfield too.
At the other end Javi Guerra looks the best bet to unsettle a newly assembled Zaragoza defence, but the big striker has so far failed to deliver in his time with a few clubs at the Primera level.
