Team News
Real Betis
Athletic Club
- Betis opened up a three-point gap in the race for fourth place with a 2-0 win over Levante last weekend and can extend their lead over Malaga to five points this evening after results went their way over the weekend.
- Pepe Mel rested a few of his regular starters for the 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the cup in midweek so the likes of Mario, Chechu Dorado and Jose Cañas will return to the starting line-up, but left-back Nacho is suspended so Javi Chica is expected to switch flanks with Angel coming in at right-back.
- It wasn't such a good weekend for Athletic though as wins for Granada and Osasuna mean they are now just three points above the relegation zone and in real danger of being dragged into the fight for survival.
- Young Aymeric Laporte is expected to return to the starting line-up after being suspended for last weekend's defeat to Rayo Vallecano, whilst Jon Aurtenetxe is also fit again so Oscar de Marcos will be able to move back into his more favoured midfield role.
- Mikel San Jose is suspended so Carlos Guerpegi or Ander Iturraspe will take up the role as the holding midfielder.
