  • Real Sociedad could only muster a 1-1 draw at home to bottom of the table Deportivo la Coruna last weekend but will be boosted by the return of their first-choice centre-back pairing for the visit of Barcelona.
  • Both Mikel Gonzalez and Iñigo Martínez were suspended last time out, as was Dani Estrada, but Carlos Martinez is expected to keep his place at right-back.
  • Diego Ifran could also come back into the side should Philippe Montanier look for more movement up front than the more direct option of Imanol Agirretxe.

  • Barcelona continued their domination of the league by rounding off the first-half of the season with their 18th victory from 19 games away at Malaga last weekend.
  • Lionel Messi was on target once more to take his scoring streak in the league to nine games and he will lead the line once more despite being one of the few first-choice players that Tito Vilanova didn't rest for the Copa del Rey clash against the same opponents in midweek.
  • Victor Valdes, Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Dani Alves, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Cesc Fabregas and Pedro should all come back in, but David Villa looks set to miss out on a third straight game with a muscular problem.

Prediction

  • Sociedad have only lost once in their last nine games and should be a side pushing for Europe come the end of the season, but defensively they are unlikely to be able to cope with Barca's firepower.
  • Messi and Andres Iniesta apart, Barca's stars haven't been overworked this week and Tito Vilanova will be keen to have the game wrapped up as quickly as possible to then concentrate on a crucial Copa del Rey quarter-final second-leg against Malaga next Thursday.
  • Sociedad did manage to come from 2-0 down to claim a 2-2 draw in this fixture last season and most certainly have the quality going forward to score so a bet on both teams to score is a good shout.
