Team News
Valencia
Atletico
- Valencia suffered another away defeat at Real Betis last weekend and desperately need a win over Atleti on Saturday to try and claw back some of the already huge 14-point gap between the two in the battle for Champions League places.
- Los Che will at least be boosted by a return to league action for Sofiane Feghouli after serving his three-match suspension but Mauricio Pellegrino is expected to resist starting Ever Banega after the Argentine completed his first 90 minutes since returning from injury against Llagostera in the Copa del Rey in midweek.
- The other major decision for Pellegrino will be whether to partner Jonas with Roberto Soldado in attack or go for the more defensive option of having Tino Costa play at the head of a midfield three.
- Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone once again rested a host of first-team regulars for their cup exploits in midweek but again it mattered little as Atleti cruised to their 13th consecutive win in all competitions with a 3-0 victory over Real Jaen.
- The majority of those left out against Jaen will come back in for their toughest test yet in La Liga with Arda Turan and Koke also set to return from the side that beat Osasuna last weekend.
- Radamel Falcao kept his own personal 11-game scoring streak going late on against Osasuna and he will fancy his chances once more after scoring twice against Valencia in the Europa League semi-finals towards the end of last season.
Soldado, what a goal!!!
