- Granada were very poor once more in losing 3-1 to Levante last weekend and after another defeat to Zaragoza in the cup in midweek, questions are already being asked over manager Juan Antonio Anquela's future at Nuevo Los Carmenes.
- Anquela will at least be boosted by the return of Dani Benitez from his three-month suspension for throwing a plastic bottle at a referee towards the end of last season.
- Floro Flores and Odion Ighalo are also in contention to start after impressing as substitutes last weekend, but the midfield trio of Jaime Romero, Hassan Yebda and Fran Rico are all still missing.
- Athletic have had another bad week themselves after losing 2-1 at home to Getafe and then only drawing with Segunda Division B side Eibar in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.
- Carlos Gurpegi was forced off with an injury against Getafe and remains a doubt so Mikel San Jose is expected to fill in at centre-back, whilst Ander Herrera serves the last of his two-game ban.
- Ibai Gomez is expected to deputise for the Spanish U-21 international with Iker Muniain moving to a more central position behind Aritz Aduriz who continues to be preferred to Fernando Llorente.
Llorente on the bench.. thats sad
