  • They will, however, want to maintain their five-point advantage over their city rivals and maintain their 100% record at the Calderon in all competitions this year when Sevilla visit on Sunday.
  • Mario Suarez is the only absentee for Atleti as he is suspended and Diego Simeone will recall the eight first-team regulars he rested for the 1-0 win over Hapoel Tel-Aviv in midweek.

  • Sevilla will be on a high after dismantling Betis 5-1 last weekend, but that victory came at a cost as top-scorer Alvaro Negredo has been ruled out for up to three weeks with a muscle injury.
  • Gary Medel is also suspended so there are likely to be rare starts for Jose Campaña and Baba Diawara.
  • Jose Antonio Reyes will definitely retain his place after a man-of-the-match performance last weekend as he returns to the Calderon for the first time since leaving Atleti in Jnauary.

Prediction

  • Atleti have won nine out of nine at home this season and their path to a 10th victory seems to have been severely eased by the absence of Negredo and Medel.
  • Radamel Falcao is also on an unusually barren run of four games without a goal for club and country which it is hard to see continuing and, although they haven't sparkled in recent weeks, Atleti have shown the winning mentality that has been instilled in them by Diego Simeone, which should also help them towards another three points.
