  • Valladolid's march up the table continued with another terrrific win at Sevilla on Monday night to move them into fourth.
  • Patrick Ebert and Oscar Gonzalez were again the star men with a goal each and they will be looking forward to testing their abilities against the champions this weekend.
  • Miroslav Djukic will, though, be forced into at least one change from the side that started at the Sanchez Pizjuan as Jesus Rueda is expected to miss the rest of the year with a knee injury so Henrique Sereno or Carlos Pena will come in.
Real Madrid
  • Real Madrid, meanwhile, just about kept their title chances alive with a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid last weekend to climb to within five points of their city rivals.
  • Jose Mourinho will also be forced into a defensive reshuffle as Fabio Coentrao limped off with a hamstring injury against Ajax in midweek and is not expected to be risked this weekend.
  • That will probably mean a switch to left-back for Alvaro Arbeloa, whilst Sergio Ramos will move to right-back with Raphael Varane partnering Pepe in central defence.

Prediction

  • Real have been punished by throwing in very poor performances on the road this season at Getafe, Sevilla and Betis and they will have to be somewhere close to their best to beat a Valladolid team high in confidence and playing some excellent football.
  • However, Real still possess by far the greater quality and, with many of their stars having had a rest in midweek, if they are fully concentrated they should rack up another three points.
