Team News

  • Levante remain well-placed in eighth after Roger's late goal handed them a point at Celta Vigo last weekend.
  • Manager Juan Ignacio Martinez will, however, unusually have to makes a few changes for the visit of Mallorca as Pape Diop and Juanlu are both suspended.
  • Miguel Pallardo and Michel should therefore come in, whilst Sergio Ballesteros, Christian Lell and Obafemi Martins should all return after missing the draw with Hannover in the Europa League on Thursday.
  • Mallorca's winless streak, meanwhile, extended to 11 games in all competitions last weekend as they failed to take advantage of playing against a Real Zaragoza side that were reduced to 10 men after just 12 minutes.
  • However, at least the Islanders' injury crisis seems to have eased and Giovani dos Santos is expected to start after coming on to set up Victor's late equaliser last week.
  • Jose Nunes and Javi Marquez also made their returns from injury last weekend and could be joined by Antonio Lopez on Sunday as he has now returned to full training after two months out.

Prediction

  • Levante have coped exceptionally well with the dual demands of Europa League and domestic action as Martinez has rotated intelligently to gain results in both competitions and there is no reason to believe a Mallorca side devoid of confidence can stop their momentum this weekend.
  • The return of Nunes, Marquez, dos Santos and Lopez does add significant experience to the visitors' ranks, but against one of the most experienced sides in the league that is unlikely to have too much of an impact, and even with their suspensions Levante aren't overly weakened as many believe Michel should be getting more starts ahead of Juanlu as it is.
  • Don't expect a classic as neither side are known for playing great football and this could easily be settled by the odd goal from a set-piece.
