  • Getafe started 2013 in the worst possible fashion as they were soundly beaten by Rayo Vallecano last Monday night and are now without a host of first-team regulars for the visit of Granada.
  • Alexis will probably have to play out of position at left-back as Luis Garcia has no other full-backs available, with Mane injured and Miguel Torres suspended.
  • Michel is also banned after being stupidly sent-off against Rayo, so Juan Rodriguez will come into midfield and there could also be a rare start for Pablo Sarabia in the absence of Pedro Leon, Angel Lafita and Abdel Barrada.
Granada
  • Granada also had a tough start to the year last weekend as they went down 2-1 to Valencia having played the majority of the game with 10 men after Mikel Rico was very harshly sent-off.
  • The midfielder's second yellow card has rightly been rescinded so he is free to play, but Dani Benitez was also stretchered off in that game and will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks.
  • With Youssef El-Arabi away on international duty, Odion Ighalo will retain his place up front and Roberto should also continue in goal as Tono has still not fully recovered from the broken bone in his foot.

Prediction

  • With both sides severely weakened by injuries, suspensions and the African Nations Cup, this is unlikely to be a classic but Getafe will fancy themselves to get back to winning ways at home after two defeats on the road.
  • The biggest miss of all is likely to be Benitez who is Granada's best creative outlet and with the Andalusians desperately struggling for goals as it is, it is hard to see how they will create chances without his link up play with Guillherme Siqueira.
  • By contrast, although they are missing some important players, the three behind the main striker for Getafe always possess a goal scoring threat and Diego Castro in particular could be the key to their success.
