Team News

  • Valladolid slipped to their third defeat in four games as they were soundly beaten 3-1 by Celta Vigo last weekend, but they will be boosted by the return of arguably their two most influential players for the visit of Mallorca.
  • Oscar Gonzalez will certainly retake his place after serving a suspension, whilst Patrick Ebert is expected to have overcome the hamstring injury that has kept him out in recent weeks.
  • However, Manucho is still missing as he has left to represent Angola at the African Nations, whilst Jesus Rueda and Victor Perez remain sidelined by suspension and injury respectively.
  • Mallorca snatched a point from their home game with Atletico Madrid last weekend despite being outplayed for practically the whole match, meaning they have now taken four points from the last possible six in the league.
  • Joaquin Caparros will also be able to welcome back Victor Casadesus after he was suspended for the visit of the Europa League holders but Antonio Lopez and Joao Victor are still out injured.

Prediction

  • Valladolid’s run of just one point from four games has seen them slip to 11th, just seven points above the drop zone, but with Oscar and Ebert back in the line-up they will be confident of getting back to winning ways this weekend.
  • Whilst Caparros’ men have managed to arrest their own slide in recent weeks, they have still looked far from convincing and unless their coach employs a far more positive approach than the one he did last weekend they are likely to struggle against a very well-organised and balanced Valladolid side.
