Team News

  • Sannino is struggling to pick his defence, with Mantovani back available but Milanovic and Cetto missing training sessions due to minor injuries.
  • The coach should keep the 4-4-2 lineup anyway, abandoning the 3-man defence project he adopted in the first match.
  • Giorgi should start on the right flank, while Bertolo play on the left.
  • Astori didn't train with the rest of the group, but he is trying to recover in time for Saturday.
  • Pinilla and Cossu will replace Ibarbo and Larrivey up front, while Thiago Ribeiro should retain his starting spot.
  • There is still no space from the start yet for Nenè, who is training hard and scoring in friendly matches.

Prediction

  • Zamparini, Palermo's club owner renowned for his impatience, stated clearly that Sannino will have time to work and figure out solutions for the bad start to the season, but the manager has to bring home points to avoid seeing his job back under scrutiny. The former Siena coach had two weeks to work with his players and it is not clear whether he focused on developing the playing style or getting a good outcome straightaway.
  • Cagliari haven't done much better than the rosanero so far, with a point obtained in the incredible match against Atalanta. Also Cagliari owner Cellino is not used to waiting long for results to come, so coach Ficcadenti must at least avoid a defeat here to retain his job.
  • The pressure on both coaches may not help the two teams to put on an entertaining show. Playing home in these kind of matches could be the difference in Palermo's favour, but the hosts are also looking for the best balance still, while Cagliari have more or less kept last season's line-up.
