Team News

  • Coach Corini will keep his 3-5-2 that can turn into a 5-3-2 when not in possession.
  • Since both Sardo and Dramè are not available, Frey and Jokic are pretty certain to play on the flanks.
  • Pellissier is injured, so Thereau and Paloschi are confirmed once again.
  • Conte will be missing a whole host of key players for different reasons: Chiellini, Bonucci and Vucinic are suspended, Marchisio is injured and Asamoah is still playing at the AFCON.
  • Therefore, Marrone and Caceres will start in defence, Pogba in midfield and Quagliarella up front.
  • Antonio Conte himself will not be able to sit on the bench since he's been banned after the match with Genoa.

Prediction

  • Chievo's recent form has been inconsistent, but the Gialloblu managed to unexpectedly win in Rome against Lazio. Corini's squad is probably not strong enough to catch up with the teams chasing European spots, but they are able to give every opponent they face a hard time.
  • Juventus dropped a couple of points against Genoa, and they need points to retain their lead over Napoli before meeting Fiorentina and Roma. The Bianconeri will probably find form in February when their preparation for the Champions League will reach its peak, but getting points now is important.
  • Expect Juve to try to control the match from the first minute, alternating between a pressing game and a slow tempo to prevent ChievoVerona counter-attack. Pirlo will be the key of the play once again both to assist the strikers and to manage the ball in different phases of the game. For that reason, Corini may even think of marking him with Thereau when Chievo don't have the ball.

  • It was great seeing the majestic Andrea "Jesus" Pirlo pulling the strings again. Onwards and upwards!

  • tm 2.5

  • my prediction 1-2 (Pirlo and Giovinco)

  • Let the turnaround begin. After a terrible marked by a Coppa Italia elimination and mounting number of injuries, Juve will get back on track starting this game. Juve win 3-1. Anelka comes in late and scores the 3rd goal.
