  • Fiorentina seemed to be out of the woods after their convincing 2-0 victory on Parma at the Franchi, but then meeting table-toppers Juventus in Turin brought them back down to earth. Montella has always claimed to be happy with the football his team has played, but now he must go back getting points on the board.
  • Inter opened a slight gap from Milan with a win against Chievo last week, while their Rossoneri "cousins" drew at Cagliari. The victory in the Europa League and the enthusiasm generated by young talent Kovacic were overshadowed by Milito's injury. Stramaccioni has to both manage the team's morale and find a different attacking solution.
  • As the hosts are used to controlling the match and Stramaccioni's Inter have always performed better when counter-attacking, this will probably be the theme of the match. The Viola must not commit mistakes whilst in possession, while Inter will try to exploit any chance they are given to break. Jovetic has been lying low lately, with just one goal in six appearances in 2013. It could be time for him to return to form.

    @anatoly13: Good points I'm not sure why you are downvoted but I thought it was more a 4-3-3. From left to right: Pasqual, Savic, Rodriguez, Tomovic; Borja Valero, Pizarro, Aquilani; Ljajic, Jovetic, Cuadrado. I think the only difference is that I would classify Cuadrado as a right winger as he pushes forward so frequently on the right whereas Tomovic was staying back and covering for him.

    The tactical formation of Fiore is incorrect in this translation. They rather play 4-4-2. In the middle Cuardado stays wide right, Pizarro is DM, Valero and Aquilani play box to box, when Aquilani is more prone to play for attack. Ljajic plays second striker from the depth of the left wind and Jovetic is deep-slayed centre forward.
