Team News

  • There are reports that Gibbs and Gervinho are both in line for a return to action after injury, and could feature at some point here.
  • Theo Walcott is out with a shoulder injury sustained when he fell heavily after he was tackled by Michael Dawson at the weekend.
  • Arsene Wenger continues to play a balancing act with bringing Jack Wilshere back to action but making sure not to rush him, so he may sit out of this game.
  • Arteta, Giroud and Sagna came through late fitness tests to play at the weekend, and should be fine to play, though it would be no surprise to see any of them rested if there is ample cover.
  • Souleymane Camara misses out through suspension after picking up three yellow cards already in European competition.
  • Younes Belhanda will play after sitting out at the weekend due to domestic suspension.
  • Ait Fana, Stambouli and Utaka all missed the weekend clash through injury, though the latter two may return here.

Prediction

  • Arsenal can book themselves a place in the last 16 of the Champions League with victory over Montpellier at the Emirates. The Gunners triumphed when the sides faced off in France back in September, and will be confident of getting the win they need here.
  • Montpellier drew at the weekend to make it four games without a win, leaving them down in 15th place in the French top flight, just two points above the relegation zone. Although they won't want to lose, the Champions League is far from their priority at the moment, and they will not be overly disappointed should they crash out.
  • Arsenal will be full of confidence after coming from behind to beat rivals Tottenham at the weekend, and with all of their players coming through unscathed and yet more set to return sooner rather than later, their confidence will continue to grow with victory here.
