  • With top spot already guaranteed in Group D, Jurgen Klopp could opt to rest some of his bigger names for the visit of Manchester City.
  • That could mean any number of the stars could be on the bench, with the likes of Moritz Leitner and Ivan Perisic after a rare start.
  • Felipe Santana could give Subotic a rest at the back.

  • Yaya Toure is suspended after picking up his third yellow card in the Champions League this season against Real Madrid last time out, so Javi Garcia could play alongside Gareth Barry in defensive midfield.
  • David Silva has been ruled out and he is a major doubt for this weekend's Manchester derby as well. Mario Balotelli could play on the left, with Scott Sinclair the only other real option, and an unlikely one at that.
  • City have problems at full back where they will be without both Kolarov and Clichy on the left, while at right back, Richards remains out. Zabaleta will play on the left with Maicon on the right.
  • Milner and Rodwell remain absent, while Aguero should return up front.

Prediction

  • With Dortmund already sure to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League as group winners, the only thing riding on this game is whether Manchester City can make a late push for a spot in the Europa League.
  • However, they are also relying on the result from the other game in Group D, with Ajax able to secure 3rd place with a win over Real Madrid. It will be interesting to see how strong a team Roberto Mancini fields, as it has been suggested in some quarters that he might prefer not to get into the Europa League and thus be able to concentrate on domestic competition.
  • Dortmund could, though, field a severely weakened side after the weekend exertions against Bayern Munich. That would give City a good chance of getting a result, but their form in Europe has been poor this season and they may find it hard to motivate themselves. Dortmund utterly outplayed City when they met in Manchester, so City could struggle again.

    We know Mancini doesn't prioritise European play, we know Dortmund is a well put together team. These two things favour a German victory, however City is a team of great individualists who can in a moment of magic turn things around. It's that unpredictability of City which keeps me on the fence about this game. I don't dare put any money, any whichever way.

    B.Dortmund will win this one easily, M.City has good players, but they have no team to match the migth of the Bavarian team. B.Dortmund despite of not being as good in bundesligue as it would be expected, they are really good in Champions League. And palying @ home, with M.United going to City ground in a couple days, the'll have the advantage. 2-1 or 3-1 Dortmund wins.
