Team News

  • While Inter have Andrea Rannochia and Fredy Guarin back to fitness after both completed 90 minutes at the weekend, they still have plenty in the way of absentees here.
  • No fewer than 7 players miss the tie through injury, while Ricky Alvarez is a doubt after he picked up an injury in their first leg at White Hart Lane.
  • Alvaro Pereira misses out through suspension, while 4 more Inter players aren't registered and cannot play.
  • Gareth Bale's inexplicable dive in the first leg earned him a third yellow card of the season in the Europa League and a resultant 1 match ban which he will serve at Sam Siro.
  • Aaron Lennon could return to the starting lineup after missing the loss at Liverpool on Sunday through injury.
  • Emmanuel Adebayor may also be back in contention having not featured in the last 2 matches since being stretchered off against Arsenal.

Prediction

  • Gareth Bale won't get the chance to return to the pitch where he caused such havoc a few seasons ago due to suspension, and Inter's slim chances of progressing will be heightened by that fact.
  • However, a 3-0 deficit from the first leg is going to be extremely difficult for Andrea Stamacciaoni's men to overturn, particularly given the lack of striker at their disposal, with Diego Milito's season- and possibly career-ending knee injury meaning they lack any real presence up front.
  • As long as they haven't already given up, Inter have no choice but to attack from the off here, and while Spurs will be weaker going forwards without Gareth Bale, Inter rarely threatened in the first leg and will struggle to score the minimum 3 goals they need. We could see a home win but an away goal would kill the tie.
