Team News

  • Eden Hazard is still a doubt and will not be risked with the games against Atletico Madrid and Liverpool in mind.
  • Chelsea were unimpressive against 10-man Swansea last time out so may make some changes, but Demba Ba, who scored the match winner, may well keep his place up front.
  • Ashley Cole will need to play in Madrid due to Ivanovic's ban so he could feature in order to get some game time ahead of Tuesday's match.
  • Jozy Altidore is fully fit once again but will remain on the bench after Connor Wickham's brace at the Etihad Stadium.
  • Phil Bardsley is still suspended so Vergini should keep his place in the side at right-back.
  • Elsewhere there could be one change after Emanuele Giaccherini had an impact from the bench last time out so he could replace compatriot Fabio Borini.

Prediction

  • A 2-2 draw away to Manchester City would be a spectacular result in any other circumstances but given that they surrendered an unlikely lead in the dying minutes Sunderland may well be feeling deflated.
  • The reality now is that they need to pick up points against either Chelsea or United away from home in order to beat the drop, while the Blues now have the title within their grasp following the Black Cats' favour on Wednesday.
  • Expect plenty of passion from the visitors but Mourinho won't let his side take any games for granted and knowing that 4 wins will secure the title is incentive enough to ensure they don't slip up before the crucial match against Liverpool.
