Team News

  • Fabian Schar may have to settle for a place on the bench once more after Johan Djourou and Steven Von Bergen put in impressive performances at centre-back on Sunday.
  • Admir Mehmedi is expected to come into the starting XI after netting the equaliser in the 2-1 win over Ecuador.
  • Josip Drmic should feature from the off again, despite being replaced by Haris Seferovic, who bagged a late goal to seal all 3 points.
  • Paul Pogba was lucky not to get sent off in France's 3-0 win over Honduras on Sunday, but is set to start against Switzerland.
  • Olivier Giroud may have to settle for a starting spot on the bench once more as a result of Karim Benzema's goalscoring exploits.
  • Yohan Cabaye is a doubt, but Didier Deschamps will be hoping he has no need to alter his starting XI.

Prediction

  • A late Haris Seferovic winner guided Switzerland to all 3 points against Ecuador to get their World Cup campaign up and running. The Swiss have the quality to surprise any team in Brazil, but will need to up their game against France in the game of the group.
  • Les Bleus comprehensively dispatched of Honduras with relative ease in their opening group game and Deschamps will be expecting a similar performance against Switzerland. Ottmar Hitzfeld's side are France's biggest threat to progressing from Group E, so the French coach would be right to demand a win.
  • Both teams boast quality all across the pitch and this game has the potential to be one of the best of the group stages. With the likes of Josip Drmic, Admir Mehmedi, Karim Benzema and Antoine Griezmann in attack, the midfield battle could settle this tie.
  • However, the offensive ability of the two sides suggest this one may turn out to be an entertaining draw.
Prediction:
2

  • FRANCE ♥

  • c`mon whoscored, i could understad when you gave a low grade to ochoa, but benaglio`s grade is way to high, as he has taken at least one goal, if not two, that he could of saved, but he saved a penalty

  • if cabaye hadn't hit the crossbar, everyone of france's starters who's not defender would have scored.

  • What a shame they did not accept Benzema's second goal... it could be the best goal of the cup.

  • @Sinaj The best goal of the cup so far is Gervinhos...

  • Why is someone down voting everyone? I'm glad the coach stuck to his opinion and didn't take Nasri. The coach knows what's best for the team. I'm especially glad he saw how bad Clichey is.

  • look at the stats france played like Chelski 2.0 even with superoir central midfielder like Pogba, Sissokho, Cabaye, Mavumba, Schneiderlin and Matuidi playing like that against Swiss was unforgiveable and 5 or possibly they would scored only on the basis counter attack. I really Bosnia would French ego and send them packing back to Paris.

  • @Ffaris You are crazy. You can't managed 22 shots and say they are chelsea 2.0

  • WOW. Even Benaglio gets better rating than Ochoa. Come on ...

  • @El_Duderino despite conceding a number of goals, he actually made more saves (7) than Ochoa (6) and saved a penalty. No bias, Benaglio just busier

  • @El_Duderino Well he had a great game despite the fact Switzerland conceded 5. He should've saved the 2nd goal but he saved the penalty and had 5 other saves that I can remember. It could've been much worse for the Swiss if it wasn't for some of his saves.

  • @El_Duderino Its all based on actual stats. They weight penalty saving pretty high.

  • @khonda And he caused at least two goals (Matuidi's and Benzema's), got 5 in the net (6 even, but got lucky here too) while Ochoa ended up with clean sheet and had absolutely best save so far in this tournament + three other fantastic.

  • Ochoa had also a real impact on the score. But ok, if saving a penalty should be see as that influential for the rate, then missing a one should also lower the score for Benzema. Especially when he was the reason why Džemaili scored.

  • @El_Duderino Benzema likely would have had a 10 if he'd not missed the penalty. How subjectively good a goal or save is won't affect the rating

  • match ends but benzema still scores

  • @fafaq Such a beautiful goal... poor Benzema.

  • @fafaq only Kuipers can stop him ..

  • @fafaq Some say he is still scoring now, long after the final whistle...

  • maybe a case of the MoreBlues today?

  • LOL Funny ending.

  • Surely Deschamps made a big "mistake" not taking Nasri to Brazil.

  • We can clearly see now France "miss" Nasri very much... Poor Samir, certainly wishes he could play for his beloved Alg... France, but just is not good enough :(

  • @hindy are you reading the scoreline wrong?

  • @rhysdesmond47 Are you seeing "miss"?

  • Benzema error lead to that FK goal...

  • that wall was about as effective as the maginot line

  • nice predicted :d

  • Cmon Les Bleus !

  • come on swiss!!

  • Under 1.5 (3,20) is my bet.

  • @PedjaS i guess you got rich now...

  • @PedjaS I think it won't happen , there'll be many goals - more than 2.5 goals looks realistic

  • History states that it will be a draw. Fifa World rankings affirms the Swiss are much higher in the rankings than the French. However, France is the more hungry team. The chemistry that is being developed by the French team should overtake Switzerland by a close margin. My prediction would be a 1-0 win for France. However if Benzema catches fire and connects well with Griezmann and Valbuena, things could get wild. Let's hope for a nice clean game. Allez Les Bleus!

  • SAKHO > KOSCIELNY

  • @Dinesh agreed. Varane and Sakho are much better than Koscielny

  • @Dinesh koscielny is better than varane or sakho....i don't even know how can varane start

  • Allez la Suisse!!

  • i hope france will loose...

  • 0_1 under 2.5

  • Both teams will play save. 1-1 is what I will guess.

  • 2-4 I think

  • 2-4

  • @commandozap we made the most realistic preview and we got deslikes :\

  • I'm going on a France 3-1 Suisse

  • I think that we will win,and by the way Cabaye is hurt ALLEZ LES BLEUS !

  • Have to admit I think you guys are nuts some times! Switzerland was lucky the other the day to score at the last minute. France will dominate this game - France delivered so many impressive things in their match against Honduras. A lot of good quality Pogba, Benzema, Varane, Greizmann and so go on! I personally think a 3-1 win for France. In this match they will be able to play the game they like. With Benzema, Greizmann and Valbuena up front Switzerland have to overcome them self if they should have the slightest chance to win or draw. The different between this match and the one they had against Honduras, is that Switzerland os fare as violent as Honduras - which means France will be able to play this flair of game! Especially on corners where France have some good solid headers, on long shots with Pogba, and the counter attacks where Greizmann, Valbuena and Benzema are deeply dangerous!

  • 0_2 France Win

  • 2_0 France
