- Gia Grigalava and Akaki Khubutia both played the full 90 in defence against Poland but have not been included in the squad this time around, so there will be changes at the back.
- Manuel Neuer missed the draw with Australia but is expected to return to the team here.
- Holger Badstuber has been ruled out with a muscle problem, while Karim Bellarabi is a doubt through illness.
- Expect Germany to play an attacking team in a game they will be hoping to win comfortably.
- That could mean a spot almost as a left wing-back for Lukas Podolski, the position he played in the 4-0 win over Gibraltar.
Why was ozil not given the assist for muller's goal ?
Hummels played very well, also Rudy was very confident..But i think Germany needs a striker like Gomez.
@sam09 Rudy ? Serious ?
Ozil is isht
@levi22- He's far from it and when he's on form he makes the game look ridiculously easy which is the easiest visual clue to who is a world class player. He's just very low on confidence atm, partly because he is criticised after every game over here by the media, but I have confidence that he will reach his peak at Arsenal during the end of this or next season and that form will be carried over into internationals. I also don't think it helps that Germany seem to be suffering a massive post-WC win hangover. Mueller and Reus have good ratings on here but how many of the German team have actually played well in a Euro '16 qualifier regardless of how well they've played for their clubs?
@levi22 well i guess then, so is shweinsteiger
Reussss
Reus ( and the rest of the midfield ) is so poor in dribbling ! Nobody ever tries to beat a man individuelly to create space. Only just short passes, even though Reus has often only one opponent in front of him !
@neumi17 Dribbling is overrated.
@stuckonautomatic If there was no dribbling in football I don't think anyone would watch it.The ability to dribble separates the good players from the ordinary. If there was no dribbling there would be no messi.
@mikers135- Not disagreeing per se because I think useful dribbles (ie- those that actually lead somewhere) are a good attacking tool for teams with pace as well as being great to watch, but there was minimal dribbling in the Spain team circa 2008-2012 and we all know how good they were to watch (not to mention how successful they were). I think Germany's problem is that they have a false 9. It's kind of pointless beating the full back or even running at a centreback if at the end of it there's nobody in the middle to set up. The false 9 is probably the worst thing, tactically, about modern football. It's what managers do when they bottle making the tough decision of dropping 1 of their central midfielders. With Spain it was often Fabregas in that role and with Germany, Goetze. I don't know why, given his form, Alexander Meier wasn't in the squad and even starting. The only thing he does is hover in the box and score and that's the only thing Germany need!
@stuckonautomatic No, not really. Sometimes you can create a chance or space by beating one defender. And they just didn`t do that, even when there was only one defender in front of them. Mostly they kept on passing to themself death ...
@neumi17 beating a defender ! That's classic football . The best type indeed
@neumi17 ...passing themself to death ...
@neumi17 They passed themselves to a World Cup title, so it's hard to blame them for not abandoning that style of play.
@stuckonautomatic Don't make it complicated where there is no reason. Everybody knows what I mean! I speak of ADDING dribbles to the game, not getting rid of the passing game. The dribbles of Ribery and Robben make the difference in the game of Bayern for exampl! With them, Bayern is very dangerous. Without them, they are just a well passing team but without any thread and scoring opportunities...
@neumi17- I would argue the dives of Robben and Ribery make as much a difference as their dribbles. :-p
wow muller and reus this could be intresting this means they can regularly sqap position with goetze. Further confuing the opponents.
Georgia, is going to lo...win
@arny.diaz.7 JK
@arny.diaz.7 doesn't matter. They can still qualify with losing from georgia.
Since World Cup 2014 GERMANY have struggled to show anywhere near their best form, however this mornings match against Georgia will see the reigning world champions show too much strength and class for them to be troubled. A certain win here for GERMANY.
@Quest could be could not be.
@Ffaris just as I predicted - A certain win here for GERMANY.
@Quest- Hardly a bold prediction though, the world champions beating the world number 126. If it was any less than a win, or even if Germany conceded, Angela Merkel would have to call an urgent meeting with Loew and ban him from wearing Merino wool sweaters for a year or something equally serious...
