Bayern
- Álvaro Arbeloa and Jesé will certainly miss out, while Sami Khedira isn't expected to feature despite returning to training.
- Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo are doubts, though will be handed late fitness tests.
- However, Carlo Ancelotti may be tempted to field a similar XI to the one that overcame Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey final last Wednesday.
- Bayern can welcome both Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javi Martínez back from suspension, though the latter is a doubt with a concussion.
- Pep Guardiola is also sweating on the fitness of David Alaba, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg.
- Holger Badstuber, Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri and Tom Starke will all miss out.
who can beat madrid now?
@Mahdi Bayern...
Bayern Munich have taken their foot off the gas since winning the Bundesliga
Kroos 7.1 & Luka just 6.7 ?
@benchmark football is not about hold the ball. the better player is not the player with the most balltime lol. modric guidet the team to go in front and to hold the result. no bavarian could use the posession they were TOO SLOW, TOO CALCULABLE, UNINSPIRED & HELPLESS.
for me its to simple to say bayern has break there very good form after ignoring the bundesliga and play with B teams. the result is not the problem - bavaria had enought chances to make the 1:1. but nobody see that really. real was nearer at the 2:0. real was much more better in all areas and phases. better defence better midfield better offense. better in the 1st half as a counter team and better in the 2nd half as a possession team. bavaria was too slow, too calculable, so uninspired, so helpless.. that was the old bavaria before heynckes and pep. the result is okay real can win surely vs alle teams but watching the game was very disappointing.
Kroos has 98% pass succes with 139 touches almost 3x more than modric (49) and he has 97%, what's impressive of modric then?
@Matelli first of all there are much more important factors than passing ability. like the way the player plays without the ball. but after all i agre to these ratings. Bayern's only opportunity, Gotze shot from 6 yards which saved by casillas was built of Modric's loss. he wanted to dribble in a dangerous position and lost the ball and that made Bayern's only danger in this game.
@Game: "Modric controlled the game" controlled the game with 28% ball possession?? LooL
@benchmark04 you laugh at our possession. i laugh at the score :D
6.7 for Modirc? You have got to be kidding. I mean, that's just unbelievable. He deserves a WAAAAY higher score. So does Alonso. They ran the show tonight.
Modrić 97% pass accuracy ? Impressive
Frank Ribery××× Arjen Robben√√√
Real should play better in Alians Arena...Players should score the chances! Di maria and Ronaldo missed very good chances. it could have been 2-0 atleast!
@Sinaj You won't win.
@Sinaj Allianz Arena* and good luck winning in Germany.
@maxvroden no need to win. 2-2 is my prediction. ;)
i hate pepe for his behaviour but as a footballer he is very good, showed id today again , i think he should be mpv!
@marinoJuve i agree, he is one of the best CB for this moment
@marinoJuve you mean MVP? most valuable player?
9 shots blocked )))
Some people thought Guardiola wont lose at bernabeu because he has not lost there with barca... In 21st century i expect people to be smarter
@Excelsior_rmcf Seriously man , i mean c'mon dont behave like gullible sheeps. Most fans are best at bandwagoning by following everything in media as the ultimate truth. No brain cells exhaustion at all
The rating system is a bit odd, it's only result driven. If you play an average game as a striker and score a goal, you'll have a higher rating than someone who dictated play by passing. It sucks but that's the way it is.
@Skrong Ignore the rating sistem, it is not "the way it is", it is a writing of one man for who knows what reason. In the case you mentioned a goal scoring, bu could be steril dribbling or passing, and so on.
Bayern players played around 7-7.5, Madrid 7.5-8.5, and isn't it a bit strange Modric got such a low rating, only a 6.7? He controlled the game, 97% pass accuracy per Whoscored, began good acctions, close and long distance pass to the right player, had the double role in defence and attack...just?
I think that was some errors in the rating of players now i start doubting in your notes
Boring game.
Lot of work remains.. Dortmund beat them 3-0 at Allianz Arena , we need to take notes
@libero. It's because Pepe had to be substituted, hence he had less time to have an impact on the match. Before the substitution he had a higher rating than Ramos.
@rick.prieto I understand, but still, the rating should be proportional to what they do over the time they spend in the field. If Pepe had continued in the match he would possibly be better then Ramos (if he had continued performing like that). Coincidence or not, Pepe's exit was the starting of Real's worst phase in the match (almost 'parking the bus'). But you're right, that was probably whoscored's criteria.
Modric and Pepe deserved better. Modric better than Xabi Alonso. Pepe better than Sergio Ramos.
I don't agree with Pepe worst than Ramos nor Modric worst than Xabi Alonso
Lets not get complacent , there is lot of work to do yet. 1-goal lead is vital when you score in away game as well. Welldone Iker & Xabi. Animo Pepe. Vamos Real
Modric was amazing what kind of rating is this? Whoscored really need to clarify their rating system!
Coentrao's finest performance in the white shirt, me thinks.
stick that TIKA TIKA up your arse Pep
@iPredict Honestly Bayern is pretty boring to watch , almost sedative with non-yielding over-worked passing. Only Robben gives them sparks else they are just a passing bunch with LUCK
@Excelsior_rmcf Yeah, I thought the tactic was meant to put the crowd and Real Madrid to sleep. It didn't really work whatever it was supposed to do...
Modric and alonso were immense,great performance by Madrid
Lahm 8?

Well defended but wasteful in front of goal...Thanks to Iker Casillas we dint concede from a clear shot. Xabi Pepe & Luka played amazing as well.. Thanks Benzu , next Allianz Arena..Cheer up cr7 and isco...Haala Madrid
@soul_snatcher It was an easy save for Casillas, Götze hit it right at him.
Modric 6.7?
@bungalow26 unbelievable. He had 6.8 15 minutes before the end, and after next refresh 6.3 even if he handn't touch the ball that 30 seconds. I think that must be some mistake.
Modification 6.7?
You guys must be kidding. Luka had 97% pass accuracy, and 4-5 excellent pass, without mistake, and you gave him 6.7?
@Halamodric Why bother complaining about it? It's their system & stat rating they use the same for every player.
@WillyBooby He had 6.8 15 minutes before the end, and after next refresh 6.3 even if he handn't touch the ball that 30 seconds. I think that must be some mistake.
Predictable play from Bayern. Wish we scored more goals. Even so, one goal in Germany will be sufficient.
HALA MADRID
By the way, how is it possible Modric has 0 dribbles? WhoScored, seriously? Only Hazard and Messi can dribble?
The last 10 minutes were slightly out of hand but other than that, I think deserved win for Real. 1-0 is a strong result.
One step closer to the final! Hala Madrid!
No way RM can endure this in Munich. No way. They are just trying to survive on their own ground. I mean, royal team what?
well, I think Bayern is a better team in a way even tho RM knew what they wanted. They played it, and got it. The game could have gone either way tho. I think Bayern will play even better at their home ground. It's just one game, but something felt like Bayern has the edge. RM was great tho, really disciplined. Good teams, good football. I am Barca fan so I don't really care, except I like Guardiola ofc :)
@blitz the real madrid Counters-atack will be more dangerous in munich... if real scores ,it will be so hard for munich to qaulify
@blitz are you crying?
Anything is possible we just beat the greatest team on earth.
@blitz Why not? Chelsea did in 2012 so no reason why a quality team like RM can't do it as well.
It would be foolish to underestimate Isco's effort, but he was simply tired and his defensive responsibilities are way greater than Ronaldo's, that's why. But well, nothing happened so maybe Carlo was right.
it should have been isco not cr7, he has played good and set up the first goal with a nice pass through
Isco is tired as hell..
I think Isco should have been subbed, not Ronaldo.
Even if we end up losing, i am proud of the players' performance. They are showing heart, and character. Hopefully we score again. Once a Madridista always a Madridista HALA MADRID
There is going to be at least one goal on Bayern's side.
@OldSport I'm a Madrid fan and i can't argue tbh
Almost all the shots Bayern fellas are taking are made in quite difficult positions.
Also, it doesn't mean that every good chance must be a shot on target, look at the chances Ronaldo or di Maria had, off target but still very good chances. But I think mature people aren't really complaining how defensive whoever it is.. are playing.
@Exti Cheers
Well, I guess certain people will complain either way. I don't know who of the ones that are commenting here are that hypocrit since I don't visit Chelsea game commentary too often.
T. Müller will score if he enter
@emanuelv No, he won't.
Exti - On target Atletico only had 2 more chances than Chelsea and its arguable that the chances Chelsea had were better. The point is less to due with the quantity or quality of chances and more to do with style of play. RM are soaking up the Bayern possession and pressure and hitting hard on the counter attack which is often what Chelsea do against tough opponents. Difference being, its somehow acceptable when teams like RM do it but anti-football when Chelsea do it. Hence the fickle fans comment.
@Cornflake RM are not parking any bus, when a better possession team (FCB/Bayern) has the ball you HAVE to defend. Chelsea's attack isn't as effective or as quick as RM's. Chelsea never looked like scoring yesterday. Bayern's defence appears to struggle to cope under pressure in any attack, Chelsea's doesn't.
@Cornflake Real didn't park the bus like Chelsea. They just gave away possession against a side that is obsessed with possession anyway. Plus, Real had 3 clear cut chances in one half. I watched Chelsea's second half against Sunderland and against Atletico and in both games they didn't have ANYTHING CLOSE TO A CLEAR CUT CHANCE!
@Ivannnnn you're missing the point. Beside with 18% possession if RM are not parking the bus then they must be pressing Bayern to win the ball back and doing a horrible job of it correct? You can't have your cake and eat it too.
@Cornflake parking the bus = defending with 11 players and hitting all balls away from your goal, not bothering to attack or to counter. what real is doing is playing a perfect game of counterattack. 2 completely different things. you park the bus when you're the weaker team and you're ok with the score and want to keep it that way. you play counterattacking football when your players are faster and the other team's midfielders are better than yours at retaining posession.
@DiM You don't need to explain to me what Parking the Bus is but based on your definition evidently there are a number of people out there that do require the enlightenment if they think Chelsea play in the manner you've described.
Real will win
When Benzema scored Mandzukic was at left back...
I can't believe how bad Real is when playing out of defence.
this is football. both teams are playing perfectly despite having completely different tactical approaches. bloody great game. it's a real shame this is not the final.
@DiM The game is nothing special so far.
Bayern's possession is useless. If we took our chances, this tie would've been over by now.
@YusufQwareeq Bayern wasn't without chances. They could score playing like this. And one goal away meas a lot.
@YusufQwareeq problem is you didn't and now you are tiring and bayern will maul you at the allianz anyway
@bigmountie how about NO?
19% possession but who had better chances? How many chances Chelsea had?
Well, it's not like Bayern is letting us play.
Real Madrid are not taking their chances. They might pay for that.
Isco should replace di maria in second hf and bale on di maria place......
I'm cheering for Madrid but 17% possession, are you kidding me! If this were Chelsea this thread would be crucifying them! Gotta love the double standard of fickle football fans
alonso best player on the field so far been filling the gaps.
C'mon Ronaldo...
hmmm... the goal was scored when Bayern had 80% possesion
What an easy goal for Real...unreal
It's so simple! Bayern's sure weakness is a clinical counter and the doctor ordered Real Madrid.
@6seconds WELL SAID!
GOALLLLLLLL
YEAH!
Looks like Mourinho has lent his old time Chelsea's bus for the evening.
No bale, looks like Bayern might have this one...
Hala Madrid
REAL MADRID WILL WIN
2:3
Bayern Munich win the game.

@Excelsior_rmcf Well i expected Bale to start and Cr7 to be benched. Anyways i hope cr7 does it this semi's
clean sheet is important in these stages
Guardiola has never lost at the Bernabéu
vivimos por ti vence por nosotros ! somos un sentimiento ! Lets get them. Vamos Real !
Madrid has to score a lot of goals if they want to advance since Bayern is gonna score for shure. Think they need at least a 2 goal difference...
Bayern are undefeated in 14 of their last 15 matches SO DRAW IS A GOOD TIP
"Real Madrid have won their last 4 home matches against Bayern in all competitions. Real Madrid have been winning at both half time and full time in their last 3 home matches against Bayern in all competitions."
Who will be the WhoScored Man of the Match tonight??
@cris Ronaldo if he starts.
@cris Sergio Ramos -- if he stays on the pitch
@cris Toni Kroos
@cris BALE!
@spuds Spurs fan..
Who will be the Man of the Match tonight??
@TheSpecialOne Reckon Modric will have a great game tonight
@TheSpecialOne Robben, always shows up on the big occasions ! 4 Goals + 4 Assists in 8 CL matches this season
Bayern will win this, they have been deceiving the public on recent performances
@Dinesh nah, Madrid will win. Bayern's shaky defence will be capitalised upon by Ronaldo and co.
@Dinesh not a bad shout, they'll definitely up their game
2:1 - LOL, no way. 0:1 or 0:2.
cant wait...hala madrid! :)
4-2
2-2
4-0 Real - Bayern :-s
real 1_0 bayern
hard predicted match.. but i think both team will score here
Bayern will cheat on Real
Counter-attacking football ripped apart bayern , last done by Dortmund
@commandozap We can play both , counter as well as one touch possession
@commandozap I think every team plays counter attacking football against Bayern. You just have to find a tactical way to pass Bayern's midfield.
@DarthBlatter Agreed
The key to this game imo is how fast you can win the possession back and how easily , quickly and efficiently you can launch a yielding counter. Both defense have frailties but bayern has more and Real has fortified their ball-winning aspect and did well vs Barca. Interceptions , tackles and domination in midfield will give one a upper hand. Remarkable thing about madrid is they can play possession one touch quiet well and counter-attack equally if not more good , that makes them favourite to exploit any fallibility in Bayern .
Bayern are defensively weak , exploit them.
Best approach for most brilliant and experienced coaches is to stick with winning formation and take out the weak link. CDR winning team dint have a conspicuous weak link , just unfortunate finishing upfront. As for Isco even if he has mediocre game as CM/DM he can launch lethal attacks and plethora of key passes. That being said his cool temperament is most needed in such games with hotheads like pepe , ramos and cr7 around. Cr7 is brilliant footballer but no legit astrologers from any part of the world (except India) can predict how he will perform post-injury. Despite his greatness he has always suffered immediately after injury. Dont play him , bring him as a sub , also there is a risk he may aggrevate the injury that could rule him out for 2nd leg. Bale will recover so dont worry about him , Flu doesnt last for more than 2 days and he has best doctors to assist him. Bayern is similar to barca , and Carlo is their boogey man. I hope to see brilliant game of football .
There is a guy called neumi17 and DelJuve , both closet anti-madrid and show they are neutral . I hope we lay such restless soul to peace.
I think I'd Carlo approaches this tie with the right tactics, Real have a real chance, Bayern are a suspect especially their 4 backline, however Bayern have goal scoters and creators everywhere else, Scheinsteiger is the spine of Bayern, all play will around him and Lahm bringing the ball from the back, Real should start extremely strong to upset Bayern and Ancelotti should start Di Maria straight away, speed and wing play will decide this match..
Bayer to win ;) 1-2
This game will be proper football, unlike Atletico vs Chelsea which wasted my evening completely! flowing and passing and probably we'll see the best wingers in the world showing their class, Robben/Ribery vs Ronaldo/Bale would not count out Di Maria as he has been immense this season. I think it will be a tight one with possession football, Real must win this game but they are up against the best team in Europe and the Cup holders..
Bale a major doubt through illness apparently.
RONALDO WILL PLAY !!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone, after watching the shitshow that was the Atleti-Chelsea match, get ready to watch real football during this draw! I'm so excited for this match.
3-0 Real Madrid. Isco to score.
Is Bale fit?
Isco deserves to start , not CR7 . We are on a rhythm lets not break that
Madrid to win 3/0
Hala Madrid <3
Oh plz , Guardiola is scared of benz runs , he was overheard by Marca. Benz even if doesnt score he provides lot of through balls , key passes and excellent low crosses. We better not experiment now and play the winning combination from COPA only
Isco should start , Cr7 shouldnt. Carlo should learn just not go by Cr7's name. Cr7 typically struggles after injury comeback. He wont play good vs mighty bayern team i'm sure immediately after recovery. And isco won 12 balls in only clasico he started , more than any player on field. He can win a ball and provide a killer pass which can end a game anytime. If i'm the coach i would act wisely and let ISco have his cake especially he will be more hungry to prove his selection after CDR heroics
@6seconds Bayern have stopped playing the 4-1-4-1 lately and have gone back to 4-2-3-1.
Bale is fit now , Cr7 may not start. Iker carva - pepe - ramos - coentrao luka - xabi - ADM ISco - benz - bale this should be XI
@Exti It is a risk having no CF, but I think they're better off without Benz. The front 3 set up i was thinking of is best represented by the way Martinez's Everton approached Arsenal a couple weeks ago (see watch?v=O4WWTYbKpOU). Di Maria as the false no. 9, closing down the DM in Pep's 4-1-4-1 (Lahm, or whoever), but also playing as CF, running from deep in attacks, while Bale + Ronaldo stretch and flatten Bayern's backline (their weak point). I expect Pep will have a cautious approach in this 1st leg away from home, yet Bayern's defence are still there to be exploited on the counter esp. if they get sucked in to Real's half. All aside, Ronaldo may not even be fit - in that case, play Morata! haha Benz isn't all that bad, just not good enough to match his peers at RM imo.
support madrid ! thanks ben mcaleer for prediction :)
Real Madrid win.
Lets do this
Playing without a center forward.. I think that would limit options in attack most of all. Benzema's finishing is something like Luca Toni's but as a creator he is still superb. Just need to hope he can score as well. About Isco.. he is not able to run whole game like Modric and di Maria, this quality will be for sure needed to have pressure on their key creators. But as a substitute when either Modric or di Maria will be tired (hope Ancelotti can fin the proper time for this and won't put Illarra on at least as long as the result doesn't need to be maintained), he will still have a key part.
Real are favourites in my eyes, esp. if Isco plays. In the CDR final, Isco made 9 tackles (offhand, the average no. of tackles for a good DM is ~5). Same as v Barca, they should sit back and hit them on the counter. As implied, Isco can begin counters and is brilliant at choosing the right pass when initiating a counter. My fav Real 11 for the fixture: Casillas Carvajal - Pepe - Ramos - Marcelo Modric - Alonso - Isco Di Maria (central AM) Bale - Ronaldo (wide forwards) (I AM on the drop Benzema boat). Have Di Maria harry Bayern's dominant playmake - problem is Bayern are bursting at the seams with creativity - however, could bottleneck the movement of the ball. Then again, I am no Ancelotti or Pep! Ha! Let the ball speak on Wednesday night, and in retrospect, I will know precisely where they went wrong/right respectively.
Real will win. Bayern playing terrible over their last games - even with their first squad. Meanwhile Real has been progressing over the last months. 3:1 or 3:0
Bayern are clear favorites for this match, considering their form they practically have a foot in the final already but Madrid must overcome all odds to win. The way its looking Ronaldo just might be fit in time for the match. Casillas, Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Coentrao, Modric, Alonso, Di Maria, Bale, Benzema, Cristiano maybe the road to the final lies through Germany we have beated the best teams the Bundesliga has to offer so far but we now have to beat the very best. HALA MADRID MIA SAN MADRID
REAL MADRIDS BEST XI: Casilias, Marcelo Ramos Varane Carvajal, DiMaria Xabi Modric, BBC 4-3-3 Bayern Munich BEST XI: Neuer, Alaba Boateng Dante Lahm, Thiago Bastian,Ribery Kroos Robben, Mandžukić 4-2-3-1 #iHalaMadrid
Yes , we can !
