These ratings are way off. Feyenoord was way stronger than Ajax during almost all match. Even Ronald de Boer said this was probably (one of) the worst match Ajax played in over a couple of years. How come the average score of the Ajax players is higher than the ones from Feyenoord who were so dominant and just lacked scoring?
A very undeserved victory for my club Ajax. They cree kick at the start of the game decided it. But Ajax did not create chances, looked tired and it fould not control the game in any way. That felt like they didn't want to play football at all. Feyenoord deserved a lot more than the loss they have now. But they failed in front of goal, even with 3 centre strikers at the end (Manu, Kazim and Te Vrede). Cillesen was Ajax' hero today with his saves. Feyenoord were unlucky. I didn't predict that they would play so well but i have to give credits to the players, they really fought very well. But if you don't have a player that pulls the trigger in front of goal, you won't score. They hit the woodwork multiple times, shots just passed the goal and lots of balls in Cillesen's hands. Glad with the points, but it was frustrating. As Ajax fan because what Ajax showed was not football. And as Feyenoord fan (my friend) it was frustrating that the ball wouldn't go in, despite the dominate play.
I hope today you see that Rutte wants to play attacking football. No Mathijsen but Kongolo in the centre. Feyenoord has the midfield in control and lacks luck considering they hit the bar 3 times. Ajax was pushed back and in the Eredivisie it has been a long time ago Ajax was facing an opponent who was stronger than them during (the first) 60 minutes
I dont really agree Queen when it comes to Rutte playing anti-football. Actually there is not much real difference between Rutte's style of play and de Boer. Looking at the fact Ajax held lots of clean sheets last season also de Boer makes sure his defence is setup before he starts thinking about the attack. Feyenoord is lacking quality in the back and especially at the position of striker. te Vrede is not good enough while Kazim did not get his minutes yet. Feyenoord also played in Europe last Thursday and looked pretty bad losing to Sevilla while Ajax got a fine result against PSG. Looking at both teams I expect trainer de Boer is Ajax biggest asset in beating Feyenoord. I hope for a win for my team but expect Ajax to win. Looking forward to this match :) Go Feyenoord!
@Mquaak I can go on for hours on the subject, but i won't, since the site won't allow me ;). But i do discuss these kind of subjects with a good friend of mine and we do that weekly. He's a Feyenoord supporter too and we both have the same ideas on football (though off course some tweaks are different). And i love to talk with Feyenoord supporters to see their vision and about the rivalry. As Ajax supporter that is always fun to know ;). Anyway, good luck to Feyenoord and lets hope its a great game sunday, Mquaak.
@Mquaak Rutten isn't a man for attacking play. He showed that at previous clubs already. He prefers safety at the back instead of goals in front. And with this Feyenoord, its a bad thing to do. At the back Feyenoord has Matthijsen, van Beek, Wilkshere and Kongolo (expected). Its a mix of experience and talent, but they are not heavy enough, not even for the eredivisie. Matthijsen showed that year after year (unfortunaly for Feyenoord) for example. And on tactics: De Boer is a complete different trainer: more charismatic, pushing for better play and really attacking vision. The goal of Ajax is to play Total Football again and be something in Europe and thats something de Boer is trying to do. Rutte on the other hand is trying to grab points and defend it. So i don't agree on the point that their playing styles are not much different. They are very different. Both want posession, but their build-ups are different with different kind of players on positions.
Ah yes, the Klassieker, the Real-Barca, Bayern-Dortmund, Tottenham-Arsenal for the Eredivisie. As Ajax fan i love these games. They are nerve breaking and tense, but its always something spectacular. Ajax' downside is that they played a tough game mid-week and usualy, they perform very badly after one. Feyenoord can handle those situations better. Yet, i do see Ajax bring back the points. Schone is out, yet, they have enough quality in front. Sigthorsson is not a real Ajax striker, but always scores in important matches. Next to that, the midfielders are qualified players to control the game. Yet, i will not underestimate Feyenoord. They want revenge, because Ajax took the league for 4 years now, with Feyenoord as 2nd or 3rd. Rutte is a coach that plays a form of anti-football, trying to be solid in the back and counter a few times in a game. Yet, i believe with the loss of quality of Feyenoord, it will not be easy for them to get in front of goal. Prediction: 1-3 for Ajax. Go de Boer!
