To quote one of the commentators "Arsenal plays to win the match. Chelsea plays to win the league." its quite easy to call the football boring but the hardwork is hardly appreciated , we would all love to see attractive football being played every game but to win one has to adapt and mourinho is among the best . i believe the refreeing was not that bad but he did make some quite bad calls like the penalty not given against oscar and letting him stay on the pitch for that long it was quite dangerous and some 50/50 penalty calls for and against which i think would have been given against other teams . anyways no harm was done to either teams due to the circumstances , its chelsea's title now its a matter of when , unless something bizzare happens .
Mourinho: "Boring Chelsea? You know, boring I think is ten years without a title. That's very boring". You have to admit that this guy has a ready tongue :D
@John_0 for me, Arsenal fan, this gives some satisfaction, as I can believe this type of behavior will spoil happiness of many normal Chelsea fans...
@John_0- That's something Wenger, Ferguson, Paisley, Shankly, Nicholson, Busby, Ramsey, Clough or any other top manager who has added something permanent to English football would never say in a serious tone (I'm sure Clough or Ferguson would say something tongue in cheek) especially considering it were the fans who were chanting not Wenger or any member of the Arsenal staff. Jose belongs in the list with those great managers but he really needs to curb his tongue because his disrespect for fellow managers is contemptible, in particular towards one who revolutionised the way every top club approaches football in this country- from the style of play to nutrition to everything in between and that was while Mourinho was still carrying drinks for Bobby Robson and Louis van Gaal.
I love the sad, sad "boring chelsea" chants. Arsenal hasn't scored against Chelsea in 5 games, Wenger has never beaten Mourinho, and all the fans can do is chant that Chelsea are boring... Winning the league from day 1, and setting a record in the process... yawn how boring. I'd much rather watch my team finish 2-4 10 years in a row
@Mac- I don't necessarily mind the way Chelsea played today (it's actually a complement because Mourinho is saying his team can't attempt to beat us playing open football...) but that doesn't make Mourinho's tactics anything less than boring anti-football, even if it does result in a league title. I guarantee you were 1 of the many Chelsea fans moaning about West Ham's setup in the infamous "19th century football" match at the Bridge. Given the fact Chelsea should have at least as good a starting XI as Arsenal yet West Ham didn't have a single player who would get into the Chelsea squad let alone team, the tactics by Mourinho today was every bit as bad.
I think Arsenal has done their best but such perplexity occurs in football, Oliver should made his decisions clear on the field of play so as all these controversies would be roll off...It's all good London Derby with such result.
@Sam.Okyere Que?
well what do you expect from maureen's team? lucky for me im not watching his team every week. #Keep The Bus Flying High
@Podol i hope ur team "keep the shot flying high above the x bar"
@Podol arsenal just 1 shot on the target ...at least this bus has more goals in the pl than those who hit on target in 11 shots
Wenger really needs to develop a plan B in the summer if he wants to have any hope of winning games like this. I also think he needs to stop playing non-wingers in winger positions. We were so easy to defend against today because Chelsea knew the majority of the play would be through the middle. I'd like to see Sanchez on right wing and somebody like Kurzawa bought to play left wing to give us genuine width. As for Chelsea's 'penalties', none of them were. The first one, Oscar went down too easy (that's to say dived as soon as he felt an arm), the 2nd one was a penalty only if Oscar didn't get a shot off on target (which he did) and for the 3rd Fabregas not only went down too easy but did what Herrera did against them which was stick his leg out looking for contact. Slow motion always makes incidents look worse but in real time I think Oliver got all 3 right. I think a draw was a fair result over the 90 minutes and the game played out exactly how I thought it would do.
@SteveHyland @SteveHyland just when I think Arsenal fans can't get any more deluded... Oscar fell to the ground on the first one when he was tripped from behind, did you even watch a replay? the second one, well, Oscar is in the hospital right now so I clearly don't need to say anything else. Fabregas overacted the third, but it was a clear penalty as well. Arsenal had no good chances, as expected, and got extremely lucky with the calls. Could have easily been a 4-0 game. You are correct, however, when you say that Wenger needs to develop a plan B - although I'd probably start with a plan A. The subs he made towards the end of the game were ridiculous, shows how little he understands the game. I feel embarrassed for Arsenal fans when he plays against Mourinho, the gulf in knowledge/tactics is immense
@Mac- He started to fall when he was touched on the arm, watch the replay and see him start going down the SECOND there is contact. As for the second, I'm not debating Ospina took Oscar out and it's sad he's gone to hospital but he got a shot on target and this is football not rugby, he got a shot off before he was clattered and just because the ball didn't go in, it doesn't mean the advantage played was incorrect. Are referees supposed to wait for Chelsea to score to see if it's an advantage then bring it back if/when they don't score?
@SteveHyland wow you're an idiot, the referee's union came out and said the double punch from ospina was a penalty. Only a truly delusional goooner would be so blinded to think that was no penalty.
@Agreen- The irony of calling somebody an idiot when it's clear you cannot read. I didn't say it wasn't a penalty-worthy offence, only that an advantage was played, the shot was on goal and therefore the advantage was over. The referee isn't allowed to blow for a penalty after he's played the advantage. He could book or even send off Ospina afterwards but he can't reverse the play on call just because the attempt was cleared. This isn't rugby, there is a time limit on advantages. Had he not played advantage and Oscar scored but a penalty was awarded which Hazard proceeded to miss, Chelsea fans would moan "why didn't he play advantage, Oscar scored?!?! Terrible ref OMG, Lol #Campaign against Chelsea". Seems to me you should direct your anger at the F.A lawmakers not those who actually understand the laws as they stand. ;-)
@SteveHyland the referees union came out and said it was a penalty! So what you know better then them? The only way they ever don't defend their refs if it is obvious they got it wrong.
Rosicky should have been on the bench. His energy and technique is usually the difference for us.
Boring game
Willian M.O.M for me!
Azpilicueta. What a player.
@Ferit22 Still not as good as Monreal.
@What4 I'm an Arsenal fan and I disagree.
@Ferit22- Helps he didn't have a winger playing against him.
where is key pass for Alexis ??
Sanchez only 3 dribbles ?? hahaha who count this ???
@bjj what game were you watching? Sanchez was dominated by Ivanovic the whole game
@bjj Opta
Boreinho.
@NotBiased trophinho
@zydwuzzhere If you can't even win a single league title in 5 years after spending more than half a billion. You might as well just give up on football.
Not sure what is so special about Courtois. Just your average joe who always has a luxury of playing behind a settled back 4 and under managers known for their defensive tactics.
@NotBiased when you think you've read it all. Wow, just wow.
@excalibur Explaining and offering some argument would be much better than just drooling over it. No?
@NotBiased except anyone who would write what you wrote, clearly wouldn't understand a rational point
@Mac Except that anyone who finds it "irrational" would at least care to explain his point and wouldn't just play the opinion card.
@NotBiased- That'd mean looking at it objectively and taking into account the number of mistakes Courtois has made this season which De Gea, Adrian, Ospina, Forster, Lloris, Fabianski etc haven't (and Cech, their best but soon-departing GK wouldn't) and that'd be too difficult for fans of a team who didn't win jack shizzle before a corrupt oligarch bought them.
3 shots on target after 70 minutes between arguably the best 2 teams the prem has to offer. I understand that Mourihnos job is to win the league not to entertain, but don't expect the neutrals to be full of praise for you.
Oezil is awesome, makes an average looking side look great...!
A striker would be perfect in chelsea formation.....
OZIL is magical! needs the #10 shirt
dumb idiot ref
@donnyy shame, I thought he would be good... he was good in the man u vs arsenal game, but here, it seems like he 's too afraid to give penalties to both sides...
By putting so many midfielders Mou has forced Arsenal to play more long balls.. killing Arsenals short pass game..
Two clear penalties for Chelsea rofl. I have never seen worse referee in my life.
@blitz- Apart from Martin Atkinson in the game between these 2 at the Bridge. Oh yeah, he was in Chelsea's favour so that's not bad refereeing. Silly me. #Campaign Against Chelsea.
I didn't think it was right for Fabregas to get booed, but he doesn't help himself by diving.
Cahill looking like Dwight Howard blocking shots
Thought it was a penalty there tbh. Pretty clear to.
coquelin has some nose to intercept passes
Szczesny would get red card for that punch like Ospina did
Lol Mourinho playing without a striker. How defensive can you get? Hopefully Wenger has something up his sleeve. Arsenal have been flying lately so its probably his best chance to finally get one over Mourinho.
@NotBiased The thing is, Mou's teams play like a unity, they were still better team than Arsenal in the first half and even had two obvious penalties denied. Seriously?
@blitz lol 2penalties. Blind much
I can only see a draw here. Chelsea's gameplay will be to frustrate Arsenal and deny space between the lines. Take scraps from transitions with breakaways from Hazrard Willian and Oscar. This will be a professional performance from Mourinhos men who are very close to league title
laying chelsea at 3.3 is the answer, they are struggling up front with costa and remy both unfit,drogba is toothless as a goalscorer these days but still ok at holding the ball up. i think chelsea will struggle to get the draw , as arsenal are looking good.
Exact Chelsea's line up like this: Courtous, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cezar, Matic, Zuma, Ramirez! That's 7 defenders!! haha
Mertesacker not playing a big plus and means Arsenal go in this match with high pressing game completely! Expect Chelsea to crack like they did against Spurs. With Coquelin and Bellerin and Paulista not faced Chelsea before Arsenal being in an amazing form at home means Chelsea as betting odds predict are second favourites in this match! 2:0 Arsenal and Cesc Fabregas to get emotional and getting booed by Arsenal fans!
Is the wrong assumption! Arsenal are in a better form than United and expect Arsenal to create chances and finish one or two! Chelsea obviously are going to defend in this game and see if they can capitalise in opponents mistakes but Arsenal is going to turn it this time and smash the ugly blue bus! the Chelsea line up will be a defensive one with at least 7 defenders: usual back 4 with Matic, Zuma and Ramirez to start! 2:0 Arsenal COYG!
@albgunn Атака у Арсенала и вправду хорошая, но защита - нет. На одних голах матч не выиграешь. Забьете 2 - и пропустите столько же.
arsenal 0 - 2 chelsea
DO IT ARSENAL
Draw
arsenal 1-1 bus
please arsene do not play mertesacker
Челси не проиграет. Зума в опорной зоне + Матич. А с контратак синие умеют забивать, так что 1:1 или 0:1 в пользу Челси.
arsenal 0:6 Chelsea "the usual"
Thankfully Oliver is the ref, probably the best of an atrocious bunch of refs. But still, this is Chel$ea, where miraculously refs turn into Mister Magoo while Mourinho's mercenaries butcher the opposition and get ridiculous calls in their favour. And you don't get any points for stating the bleeding obvious that Mourinho will park the bus.
Mourinho's tactics is far away from any other manager in EPL, Chelsea will soak up the pressure of Arsenal players and then push for a goal like what happened last week when Eden Hazard scored from a fast break situation. Chelsea will then park the bus given that they have limited striking options. Arsenal 0-1 Chelsea
Unfortunately, but it is draw or win 1-1 1-2 Chelsea
Chelsea are just too disciplined and have too good a record against other top teams. My growing confidence in Arsenal will not be well placed on a win here. Draw at best for Arsenal (imo).
6-0 Arsenal win :D go to hell Chelsea .......
@mr_eleven in ur dreams
Mourinho really gets on wenger's nerves. I believe wenger would really want to win this match. Lets see.
chelsea will win this match
They did it again! Whoscored put Cesc's name in orange in the MOTM like the rest of the Arsenal players yet he's a Chelsea player. Trolling Chelsea fans are we as well? Whoscored are trying to troll everyone today it seems(see EFC-MUFC MOTM list). Do I get a prize for noticing this Whoscored?
Arsenal is favorite to win
@Gokhan 10 points behind.
Arsenal is favorite to win, but it might end with a draw.
1-4 Drogba, Alex, Essien, Carvalho
1:1
Arsenal no longer possessing both teams will tend to park the bus then counter attack. 1-1 score is more likely though I want arsenal to win
The bus driver will park 3 busses, with 6 defenders in the starting 11, but our guns are well prepared to blow up the bus, i hope the referee will be fair this time
0-0
at the moment this tie is most difficult match between any pl teams hope it to be entertaining match
@khadar Entertaining? You've obviously never watched a Mourinho team before.
@What4 at least I have watched that 6:0
@khadar And Barca 5 - 0 Real Madrid
Coquelin motm
Arsenal 0 - 1 Chelsea, The usual Hazzard MoM
Chelsea give me a scoreline close to last season's De-javu by thrashing arsenal 5 goals to nil.Take advantage of arsenal's terrible fa play last weekend
@Eddiebee Remember Bradford? I'll refresh your memory. League 1 side scored 4 goals at Stamford bridge in the FA Cup. Hazard played.
@Eddiebee Remind me, how did Chelsea in the FA Cup again ?
@Milann Lmao. Fa cup does not give you bragging rights.
@Ferit22 Making fun of difficult win against a championship side when your team was absolutely ridiculous in that competition...
Mou will park the bus again... arsenal-chelsea 0;1
3-1 arsenal win
Arsenal - Chelsea 0:2 or 0:3
With the title within reach but not yet secured for Chelsea, I expect a performance and team setup similar to their game against Utd, especially this being an away game. Everyone involved will want to win the title ASAP, obviously, and there's little chance of Mourinho risking a loss in order to get a win when he knows his conservative formula works (and has worked) in getting a point against pretty much every team in world football. I'll go with 0-0 or 1-1 and in all likelihood a boring game, probably Matic MotM. I hope we score first, and early on, so Chelsea are forced to come out. Bellerin has been great offensively but far from it defensively and has relied on his pace to bail him out on a few occasions so I'm concerned about him facing Hazard- particularly as Hector also has a tendency to jump into a tackle. Remy will likely start for Chelsea because Drogba is done. They need somebody up front in case Cesc is able to spray a pass on the counter and Costa ain't ready yet.
@SteveHyland as mourinho stated they needs only 2 wins. if draw this game, only 2 wins needed to secure the title, if win, game against leicester was the 2nd win needed to win the title. If Arsenal win, they still need 3 wins from 5 and arsenal slip up. As arsenal fans, the title was beyond grasp, but hope we can take win on this game especially against mourinho team, the team that arsenal always struggle and never win. Let the beautiful games win for this occasion. Jinx at old trafford was over, how about jinx against mourinho? Hazard was big concern, but i think bellerin should be okay if debuchy still not ready on big game(against reading he a has rusty game)
@rdjet2008- For sure, the title is almost certainly Chelsea's but Mourinho, to his credit, never believes his team has won until he officially has which is why I believe he'll treat this game as though we're really only 2 points behind. In that theoretical situation, there's no way he would risk Chelsea losing (and ending up a point behind) for the sake of 3 points if he can adopt a strategy that has worked in every single game he's employed it against us and have the title race remain under Chelsea's control.
