Burnley
Arsenal
- Sean Dyche is likely to name the same starting XI after his side edged what was a pretty dismal 0-0 draw with Spurs last time out.
- Sam Vokes could be the player to lose out if the hosts moved Ashley Barnes back into a support role to Danny Ings and brought in a more conventional winger.
- The likes of Arteta and Debuchy could be back in contention this weekend but Jack Wilshere is targetting a return in the FA Cup against Reading next week.
- Aaron Ramsey and Woijcech Szczesny should be in the squad, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may not be risked just yet.
- Laurent Koscielny could also be in line for a rest due to a thigh problem so Gabriel may start at the back alongside Mertesacker.
I want Wenger to left that Champions Trophy for once. Cmon Roquelin, SMG. CoCa- Coquelin Cazorla, CoCa- Coquelin Cazorla,, CoCa- Coquelin Cazorla,, CoCa- Coquelin Cazorla, CoCa- Coquelin Cazorla, CoCa- Coquelin Cazorla, CoCa- Coquelin Cazorla
Please don't start rhinosacker against Chelsea! start Paulista as Per will get found out!
@albgunn- "Rhinosacker" was excellent last year and has been good since Koscielny came back in the team. Centreback partnerships are just that, partnerships. People make an issue of Per's lack of pace but if Wenger set out a defensive line which was level (or where Mertesacker was the furthest back as opposed to Koscielny), defended slightly deeper when attacking and told the right back to stay in position and track the left winger then Per being isolated against a fast winger would rarely happen. Mertesacker wasn't bad against Chelsea at the Bridge but Chambers, Koscielny and Flamini (the 3 players around him) were poor. Still, Mertesacker is tall and isn't glamorous so we'll just blame him for all Arsenal's defence problems.
@albgunn His name is not Paulista. Paulista means only that he is from Sao Paulo, to differentiate him from other people named Gabriel. His full name is Gabriel Armando de Abreu, but like many (but not all) Brazilians he does not use his surname, and goes only by Gabriel. Would you attempt to use surnames for Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, or so many others?
@Art_Vandelay- Ronaldinho isn't his forename though, it's Ronaldo. Ronaldinho means "little Ronaldo" which differentiated him from the already established Ronaldo in the Brazil squad otherwise he would've been simply Ronaldo.
@SteveHyland Thanks, I somehow never knew that, I'm glad now I do.
@Art_Vandelay- You're welcome. The culture of adding an "inho" to the end of a forename can also used as a term of endearment as well as any part of the name your Dad was known by (Rivaldinho, Juninho etc).
Gabriel Paulista makes sense, but just calling him Paulista makes no sense whatsoever. You are saying "Start Sao Paulo resident against Chelsea!"
Coquelin was excellent today and has been a revelation since becoming a first team regular. I just hope he isn't a one-season wonder and has the dedication, patience and will to be a defensive midfielder as opposed to the box-to-box one he is naturally. Not sure why Ramsey didn't volley that superb aerial pass from Oezil btw. Probably a sign of confidence (or rather a lack of) in Aaron's game but I was hoping for a v.2 of his Norwich volley! :-( . There is zero chance of Burnley being relegated this season, every single player is behind Dyche and that's usually a tell-tale sign of survivors (or not).
Once again Nacho Monreal looks like a Spainish international
@drewisdrew- Yes but del Bosque wont start him unless he plays for Real Madrid or Barcelona. That's the rules!
coquelinsanity
It is hereby declared that Coquelin would be named as rock from today.
@HellKitchen- Rockelin?
@SteveHyland Fantastic!!
@HellKitchen- Merci beaucoup, mon ami! :-)
@SteveHyland Je ne comprends pas le français. Je ai pris aide de traduire. Vous ne semblez pas être français.
@HellKitchen- That's actually a pretty accurate translation so you can't have used Google Translate. Ha ha. I'm not French but some stuck from school and I thought I'd use Francis' native tongue to show my gratitude. :-)
@SteveHyland Aber Ich kann deutsch sprachen, ein wenig :)
Arsenal pretty much cruised this one, no injuries, clean sheet, nice Ramsey goal, and a feel for Giroud moment. Burnley huffed and puffed, but the house was not built on sand, it was built on a Coquelin shaped rock.
@Khanya Nice analogy, Coquelin to rock
Arsenal in yet another jammy away win shocker...
@NotBiased- I wouldn't call it jammy when a team has 69% of the ball, the vast majority of the genuine attacks and 17 shots. It was a scrappy win for sure, but my definition of jammy is when a team has been thoroughly outplayed for 90 minutes yet nicks a point or 3 in injury time a la "Fergie Time" era Man Utd. Burnley had no real opportunities barring some speculative efforts from Ings whereas we had a fair few yet were profligate with our final ball or shot. Burnley defended well and we should dominate teams like them to the degree we did today but I didn't see a jammy win at all.
i have no idea how Sanchez has such a rating in this game. His stats are far from impressive. #rigged
@Excalibur- I think if the WhoScored scoring criteria is rigged or anybody, it's Messi! Ha ha. Sanchez for the most part has deserved his high ratings this season and a lot of what he does goes unnoticed (in regard to applying statistical formulae to his performance). I agree today wasn't an 8.4 performance from him but that's a question of the WS criteria rather than there being any intentional bias.
@excalibur I don't think he played well. Ospina/Koscielny/Coquelin more better than he.
@excalibur Probably because of all the defensive work.
@rafidarts 3 tackles, 3 interceptions still doesn't justify such a high rating if you look at his attacking stats in this game. It's suspicious.
Coquelin, you beauty. No Arteta, No Flamini. Coquelin+Cazorla=WoW Go SMG and CC
@HellKitchen- Arteta and Flamini are done as Arsenal players. I can see them playing in the league cup or being emergency subs but neither will start a game against a top or even a mid-table side again.
@SteveHyland that's why arsenal still need to buy a good cdm in the next window, because we would still be one injury away from a shifting sand like midfield.
@Khanya- I think Bielik is seen as a first team possible next season so doubt we'll sign anyone in all honesty. He is a precocious talent, very mature but needs to fill out a bit imo. He is still a better back up option to Rockelin than Flamini or Arteta but I would like Krychowiak or Carvalho in the squad. Just don't see it happening unfortunately.

Why isn't this been tracked? The admin should take note of it if at all he reads messages.
This is a great website, undoubtedly, and there are far too much bugs.
Uhh, it's already 0-1 and yet it's not there?
Arsenal do love those jammy and scrappy goals away from home quite a lot. Eh?
What's wrong with whoscored and Arsenal matches
Koscielney starts.
Go Gunners!1-2 Arsenal
Arsenal will win this 100% but can't predict how many goals to be honest! Burnley have nothing on Arsenal and cannot control the tempo like of Sanchez, Cazorla, Ozil, Ramsey and Giroud create! Burnley yes are fighting for survival but Arsene Wenger has got the last few games by te thorns and for first time in this season there's a fully fit squad! COYG! I predict a 0:3/4 salut
0-4
Away win 1-3 Arsenal
Ooooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllllllllllllll
2:1 arsenal has a reserved spot (yes 4th ) so it's normal to lose this one in order to achieve their objectives
1-2
burnley was good against big team, arsenal should wary of that. This will be good game for arsenal before against league leader chelsea. Should focus for 2nd place because the gap is very small between 2nd-4th. We even can be sit 4th place (our usual place) the end of the season if not careful. Get 4 win should seal CL slot. So burnley should be the first target.
burnley would be a tough opponent !!
Ings and Boyd can be fun to watch, but I'm afraid Bunnley have no chance.
i strongly belief arsenal will produce a historical 8 straight win, 0-3
Draw!
0-4
Draw; scoreline (1-1). Ok!
Chamberlain is out for two weeks :(
1-3 - MoM Giroud
1-2
3 points coyg
4-0, trippier will score 4 goals
@bogdan0904 Nothing would be Trippier than than I'll get my coat
@bogdan0904 Trippier to score 4? you must be tripping
I think arsenal will win this one, but the win could come with an injury to a key player
These are the games I don't like as an Arsenal fan. A team who will be defensively disciplined, park not only the bus but the fleet if necessary, not try to attack other than on the counter and tackle heavily. I think we'll win but it'll be a very hard-fought one if so. I say 1-0 with Giroud scoring and Sanchez MotM now he looks to be back on form (instant jinx!). It might be a good opportunity to rest Cazorla and put Ramsey next to Coquelin with Walcott right wing. Even tight defences are susceptible to pace and Santi has been going non-stop in 2015.
@SteveHyland I think more than 1 nil, more like 2 nil. It seems that Arsenal goals often come in batches. Is there some stats on that? It will be tough, but not like Newcastle was.
@Khanya- Newcastle actually tried to, and did, play football though whereas Burnley will be happy not to given this is a game where even a draw is an excellent result. It all depends on what Dyche does but I expect him to be ultra-conservative given our recent form. Hopefully if/when we score once, we score another 1 or 2 quickly though.
i see Arsenal dropping points on this tie, Burnley is a very good team, and with fighting for survival and all i think they will talk something out of this match
@john666 Arsenal too strong, no team can be underestimated, but the Gunners are in a rich vein of form
@Khanya that's a good point as well, but i just think this tie will be a close one, i don't know if i will be wrong...
Burnley are not a bad team. Away three points are always hard to get against a battling for survival side at this stage of the season. 0-2 with inform Ramsey on the scoresheet.
@ramsey You predicted it right and you scored too. Great man!
