This may signify the beginning of the end for the Saints, at least as far as top 4 contenders is concerned. 37 minutes against 10 men with constant pressure and multiple shots but it finishes 0-0. As much of a pessimist about Arsenal I am, I think we would've scored at least once in this situation and ditto for Man Utd, Spurs & Liverpool. I would predict Southampton finish 7th from here.
@SteveHyland Actually it was practically 11 vs 9 the last 20 minutes. Carroll was injured, but stayed on the pitch. He was barely moving. Southampton only have themselves to blame. Not moving the ball quick enough. Not getting to the byline, not getting into good positions to cross, playing players in the wrong position, too many long balls. Not enough shots from the edge of the box when West Ham were inviting them. Southampton bottled it tonight. Their defence is brilliant though and they are fantastic at controlling games in an attacking or defensive manner. Their inexperience showed tonight. They are still a very good side.
Ok Jenkinson, pitty about drawing against *that lot* last time, but you did make that fool Shaw look like a right fool. Be a darling and shove that smug look down Koeman's throat, eh? Do it for The Arsenal, lad. COYG!
Strange prediction. The correct prediction is a Saints win looking at the form of the two sides and the fact Saints are at home. My prediction is 1-0 or 2-1. Of course a draw is a possibility and more likely than a West Ham win. But a Saints win is the most likely. The odds in the bookmakers says it all.
I fear that we will see bad respond from West Ham. They had though match on Sunday. If they go on counters maybe they have chance but if they open up Saints will dominate. Without regular centre backs and away from home West Ham to loose.
Incase anyone is interested possession was 57.4-43.6 at half time. Saints had 75.4% possession in the second half to West Ham's 24.6%.
