Having played on the back line myself, I think de Vrij deserves some recognition. He had an excellent showing today. Good to finally see Wesley making things happen again too.
@footballforlife Who said I cried? Who said I support Costa Rica? Why are you making things up? I do not care about Costa Rica. I didn't say anything about them (nor about Netherlands). Can't I make a simple statement (I'd call it a fact) that involves a player without being accused of crying because supposedly I'm cheering for the other team?!!
@alexreg Dirty Dutch based on 1 dive that wasn't even in the penalty box? ok lol. Besides Argentina is one of the most boring teams so far at the WC... they started stalling after 20min against Belgium... seriously.
Surely, Krul must get a higher rating for saving 2 penalties. Give the guy some credits whoscored. The penalties are a part of the match,the match doesn't end after extra time.
@FaizanBaig1 Incorrect. A penalty shootout is to determine the winner of a match after it has ended without a winner. Penalty shootouts aren't considered part of the match hence why players won't get their goal credited with the rest they have scored in the tournament. So both Robben and RVP will stay on 3 goals for the tournament even thought they scored in the shootout. It may sound stupid but that's how it is.
Also, why was Cillessen celebrating? This guy is suppose to be one of the best young keepers in the Eredivisie yet the manager doesn't have the confidence to let him take part in the penalty shootout.
@TheFactsProvider you're joking right? it was a tactical move by van Gaal, nothing more nothing less. Krul is a PK saving specialist. Cillessen will start the Semi-Final.
@TheFactsProvider plus his gamemanship... making dodgy signals at the Costa Rican players. ah well, turns out he has no honour, like all the other Dutch players.
Costa Rica have to be exhausted. Back to back 120 minute matches, played vs. Greece with a man down for 60 minutes, if they somehow win it will be nothing short of immaculate.
@kam That's an awful excuse. The Spain match was 3 weeks ago. And he didn't even play the full game. He also didn't play against Chile. If he has "exhausted himself" then he's terribly unfit.
Got to go with Netherlands for this one if I'm honest. One of the main reasons being, their keeper has been one of the very best keepers in the world for the last couple of years. Seriously, check him out on youtube. The only reason he's not recognized is because he doesn't play for a bigger club. But seriously guys, check him out, you won't be dissapointed.
Costa Rican defense will be compact even though their best defender so far Oscar Duarte is suspended. It will take a lot from Robben et al. to penetrate the 5-men defense let alone very impressive Navas. The Dutch need to be careful of Costa Rican counter attacks as they have only 3 men guarding the back line. I think Dutchmen will win though, due to experience and vast individual skills of Robben, Persie, Kuyt and Sneijder compared to spirited Costa Ricans.
It would be a shame if netherland won the world cup playing such awful football. All these years they played attractive football and lost, and now when they play ugly football they have a chance to win.... That's just stupid.
@wawa Gotta love how you posted the same below virtually every other quarter final game comment section. This guy right here has shown us persitence, gentlemen. May they be celebrated as the insiting person they are.
Seriously now though, I have to admit, I'm more a fan of possession, or Tiqui-Taca, if you want to call it that, as well, but what exactly makes you think of the dutch way of playing this beautiful game as ugly? THey have been offering a lot of considerably respectable perfomances.
Gotta give them at least that before describing their way of play as ugly.
While I love the Netherlands this time around and enjoy watching their counter attacks I have the feeling that Costa Rica could cause an upset here, much like Australia, being a team that prefers to hit the opponent on the break as well.
THis will be highly interesting to watch as van Gaal's team will have to adapt to being the playmaking team today. But I do think their individual class will mark it down in the end. Wouldn't put my money on it, but I have the feeling that Robben will be on fire once more tonight.
@danianevem Dont be so sure , CRC can win this too. They've good crowd support as well and there is no other team in this world cup which plays so cohesively & with sacrifice like crc does.
why my comment had been deleted
Having played on the back line myself, I think de Vrij deserves some recognition. He had an excellent showing today. Good to finally see Wesley making things happen again too.
Robben apologises for diving and then does it again. Mind boggling...
@Ivannnnn He didn't dive a single time this match.
@Ivannnnn Cry about it, Costa Rica was on the floor the whole game. And they show'd nothing to get penalties

Navas is best goalkeeper of this world cup bar none.
Tim Krul 6.0 rating lmao
@schnix well he did let some in lol. Seriously whoscored needs to make a different type of rating system for keepers.
@yayo because penalty shootout don't count to the regular game..
@benchmark04 i know, i was just being sarcastic
That's the most fantastic 0 - 0 i've seen in my life
@vcpinheiro14 Netherlands-based 0-0
The Dirty Dutch are going to need to get the lube out next match, as Messi & co. are here to teach them a lesson in REAL football!
@alexreg Dirty Dutch based on 1 dive that wasn't even in the penalty box? ok lol. Besides Argentina is one of the most boring teams so far at the WC... they started stalling after 20min against Belgium... seriously.
@alexreg So far Argentina played like Costa Rica today.
navas is a beast
Keylor Navas has been elected Budweiser MAN OF THE MATCH!

I don't like the fact that Krul was taking 10 minutes before each penalty was taken and the referee didn't say a single thing to him.
@TheFactsProvider plus his gamemanship... making dodgy signals at the Costa Rican players. ah well, turns out he has no honour, like all the other Dutch players.
Robben sure for MVP. This man is unbelievable.
Those were some German penalty skills. Mad props for Holland. I just wonder, what would van Gaal do if he was Belgium's manager.
Bad news for Argentina - no Keylor Navas.
Deserved win
Best 0-0 draw I've watched in a while.

Unlocky to the core..
Seems like RvP has exhausted himself in the match against Spain. He was extraordinary in that match, since then he has been ordinary at best.
@kam RvP always fails as the tournament continues.... I wish he puts Huntelaar up.
@kam That's an awful excuse. The Spain match was 3 weeks ago. And he didn't even play the full game. He also didn't play against Chile. If he has "exhausted himself" then he's terribly unfit.
@TheFactsProvider Yes if that's up for an excuse, that would be awful. I was sarcastic while making that comment.
RVP 6.3? 5.3 would be the better rating
Robben it just too good, diver.
Robben 7 dribbles and 7.6. Messi would already have like 9.3
More luck than skill from Costa Rica, except for Navas. Without him they'd be like Russia.
Netherlands should be 3-0 up by now. So unlucky.
How did the Netherlands not score there? lol
Nice dive Robben.
KEYLOR NAVAS IS THE BEST GOALKEEPER AT THIS WC !
@AndreyNosatii Neuer and Howard would like to have a word with you, dear sir.
Howard is not in 1/4,and he received 6 goals in 4 games,Navas received only 2 goals in 5 games.Navas > Howard
@Cherk Neuer is a CB though ;)
@khonda lolled haha
@wawa u posted exactly the same in argentina game without changing a single word
@sun and in the Germany - France game also...

Costa Rica can win this if Oranje's luck runs out.
Costa Rica is one of the most likeable teams of this World Cup, but Netherlands will qualify for the Semi-finals.
@danianevem Dont be so sure , CRC can win this too. They've good crowd support as well and there is no other team in this world cup which plays so cohesively & with sacrifice like crc does.
This game will probably be one step too far for Costa Rica, unfortunately.
The Netherlands should not be relied! We gaan Oranje!!!
1-1 and penalties I think
2-0 for Netherlands I guess
ht: 0-0 ft: 1:0 8ODD
@la_Roma_di_Dave no. it's 0-0 until 117th minute.
Netherlands, France, Colombia and Belgium to be the 4 Finalist Please.
1-2
