This match was played between Germany and Argentina, in Rio de Janeiro. While there isn't any direct proof of this, many believe it to be true. The stadium itself has hosted matches before, but that still doesn't prove that anything happened here on July 13th. Perhaps the most undeniable evidence for it was the fact that the match was played between Germany and Argentina, but that itself is only believed through word-of-mouth. In hindsight, there was a lot more to this tournament than just Germany and Argentina, but for a number reasons this was the only fixture that received attention. I personally think that Germany has the collectiveness to progress here, but similarly there is no reason to rule Argentina out yet either. There's good reason to presume this will be a tight match, but do expect conversation to continue about whether in fact it happened or not over the next few years.
aguero and mascherano must have a red card. so many hard fouls at schweinsteiger, concussion for kramer.. and schweinsteiger get a yellow card lol @ italy referees. argentinia dont play football they are rugby, boxing and antifairplay worldchampions!
aguero and mascherano must have a red card. so many hard fouls at schweinsteiger, concussion for kramer.. argentinia dont play football they are rugby, boxing and antifairplay worldchampions!
Supported Germany througout my life. But did not want to see Argentina loose this way. Infact they deserved to win considering argentina squandered 4 clear cut goal scoring chances. Argentine did not deserve that. The same thing happened against semi-final against netherland and messi created two clear-cut goal scoring chances to palcios and aguero (i guess) in second half of extra time and again it was squandered. Not saying palacios and aguero are bad player just saying luck was not on Argentine side that even lethal finishers like palacio, aguero, messi and higuain were missing chances. It just that darn luck that abandoned argentina. But hugely happy for Germany for winning it. But its more like combination of happiness and sadness-the term perfect heart break really define the emotions or mental state of me. But Forza Germany.
@wawa yeah there was fouls and loads of them but they were usually punished by the refree as well. I guess refreeing in this match was slighly better maybe the decision on mascherano. But Kramer concussion was unitnetional in the same that Neuer accidently fly kneed Higuain.
@Ffaris You can safely put those sad feelings aside and celebrate. Germany did miss some opportunities as well, like Howedes' header that went off the post. In the end, those missed opportunities do not count. Germany was the better team in this tournament and they deservedly won.
@antonsmith Yeah they sure did but they were not as clear cut as argentine were. Heck yeah im celebrating. It could not gone any better considering either of my 2 fav team could have won it. By the way i would prefer to have 2 of my fav competing in final rather than having 1 fav team and other not fav team in final. So yeah im happy overall.
can someone explain how was that Neuer tackle on higuain ? was it foul on Higuain or not? just wondering your opinion, (i know the ref opinion what was.)
@JoeB91 And Kramer got knocked out from the Defender. Schweinstieger got punched in the face from Aguero. Schweinstieger was knocked to ground more times than he was running with the ball. Neuer got the ball, if Neuer had just taken Higuain out it would've been a penalty.
@Rafael95 Muller didn't deserve it. Other than scoring 1 more goal and running around more, he wasn't superior to Messi. He got a lot more chances, and easier ones too playing for Germany. Messi's dribbling and passing was far better, and his goals were more difficult and spectacular.
People whining over Messi winning the golden ball, yet no one questions why Neuer won the Golden Glove? He had no really decisive saves to make all tournament! Sure he did his job as a sweeper well but is that enough to win the Golden Glove??!! Navas kept Costa Rica in the tournament FFS! And don't get me wrong Neuer is the best GK in the world but he didn't deserve to win that.
@Sinaj Same can be said about Navas and Costa Rica accept in every game. My point is, Neuer was not the absolute best GK of the WC, but he was one of them, and his team reached the final, and so he is worthy of an award. Yet when Messi, not the best in the WC, definitely one of the best, and his team reached the final, won the best player award people are outraged as if someone died or something.
Di Maria did not play, and Aguero played badly (probably bc he was not fit).
Messi created so many chances for them and always drew 3-4 german players with him. It's his teammates that did not take those opportunities.
Who cares about the World cup? What I really want to know is why in the world did Messi win the Golden Ball?
We are all likely to forget this in this week. People stop whining.....
messi role was to create chances rather than to score, and he did well but he was monitored in all of his matches, and manged to score and create chances, also he won 4 times man of the match, and you all say robben deserve it more... honestly what did he do more than messi, and he was playing only attack role...
@a_alarda messi is world class in creating chances, seems your dislikes cares about goals, wait messi scored 4 while robben 3...
messi had key role of argentine final, most of their opponents marked messi with 3-4 players, and still great performance from messi...
Congratulations to the German team for this well deserved win!!! What an outstanding midfield they have. Their passing game is creative and artful, and they are dominant everywhere on the field. What a brilliant goal by Götze. Exceptional team effort. Let's celebrate this moment!
@antonsmith they won with very similar way like spain or barcelona succed in last years, but i wouldnt call artful, they are efficient, but not that artful. they do it in "germanic style" ^^
@Faceman Then you have no taste for great football. Watch again the passing game between Schwiney, Kroos, Khedira, Ozil and Muller, notably against Brazil. It is definitely artful and beautifully orchestrated. Spain was considered artful as well in their passing play, but they struggled to get inside the box and lacked the true offensive skills that the Germans displayed during the past World Cups. This German team has found the perfect mix of possession, skillful passes and direct attacks.
Messi? Well, okay. I.. honestly think James or Müller should've gotten that. But all in all I can see why he is decorated with the Golden Ball. I sadly don't speak Spanish, so watch me fail at this (Also, if there's anyone here capable of speaking it, please feel free to correct me): ¡Enhorabuena, Leo! Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Deutschland!
Argentina fan since 1990.but i never thought they would get this far.i thought it would be a Holand Germany final.it's a sad day.i'm r sad for Messi.but i'll still cheer this wonderful team.
@footballforlife because , the golden ball is always given to the best player in the losing team in the final . And messi is the best arge tinian player -,-
As a football analyser , I say with satisfaction that im happy that germany won . Germany deserved to win not only because this match or the 7-1 . Because of the hole competition , argentina didnt perform that great to deserve to win . But germany performed pretty good and i think that this world cup has been a great one . Gongrats to deutchlander,s and hard luck to aregentians . Im happy it ended 1-0 its a fair score for the match thanks all . See u in the next world cup .
As a huge Messi fan, I agree he didn't play his best game in this, the biggest game. But Sergio Aguero is a world class striker, with much expected of him, and he did absolutely nothing this entire tournament. If it's OK to rip on Messi then it should be OK to rip on him, he's not some small time player. The best team definitely won though.
@rokka222 learn it: you just can so good like the enemy allow it. every german player can play better. they are all at 80%. khedira cant play. kramer was knoched out by argentinia. its normal. its a teamgame. team wins team loses. not players.. its argentinias problem if they only have 2-3 good players, we have 30!
Whoscored should give points for playing like a warrior instead of dribbles, that way Schweinsteiger would have a much higher rating! He's been fouled by the thugs of Argentina and still braved through everything.
To all the Cristiano fanboys here slagging off Messi, let's think where he right now... oh right, probably at the hairdressers in Portugal. Yeah, what a player he is.
I never saw Ronaldo walking away from team talks.
Messi did tonight.
How a captain can just decide that he's above his team?
He played very poorly and never step up in knock-out stage.
@TheFactsProvider
they didn't create it, Germany defense made huge mistake.
Even so, i'm talking about the time after Gotze's goal.
What Argentina created then? Nothing.
They didn't even come close.
Not to mention they had zero shots on target.
ZERO.
@El_Duderino Well obviously they didn't create anything after Germany scored. This match was a whoever scored first wins game. The zero shots on target was due to their poor finishing after those golden chances.
@Ivannnnn chances are something for losers. you win with goals not with chances. its right argentina had the better chances but who cares? argentina cant get a goal germany was nearer then the 1:0 2:0.
@El_Duderino Messi's chance at the begining of the second half. He usually scores those without looking. Shurrle's and Gotze's chances would have been misses more often than not.
Argentina blew it. Pure and simple. Higuain and Palacio should've both scored and Messi was nowhere to be seen. His freekick at the end was nothing short of embarrassing.
Is this the same Germany that absolutely thrashed Brazil only a few days back? Their talent to choke is absolutely unbelievable! Come on, Win the cup already!!
@kam You also have to remember they struggled to beat Algeria so you just can't look at the Brazil game. But to be fair to them Argentina has defended well, as they have done in the tournament.
It's a big paradox that Argentina's attack (Messi, Higuauin, Agüero, Lavezzi, Di Maria) is mentioned as one of the best in the world, and they still had played 0-0 in 3 of 7 matches in this world cup!
How did Argentina not get a penalty kick with the Neuer incident?? Have we learned nothing from Schumacher in '82? Nowhere near the goalkeeper area, no need for such high knees from Neuer, seriously dangerous for Higuain! Awful refereeing..
@DutchDelight : the gk was on the air and played the ball. Hitting (on purpose or not) a flying goalie is a fool.
PS : i'm french, and Schumacher played Battiston instead of the ball, while Neuer played the ball, or at least touched it.
@sailorripley It looked inside to me but if it was outside the box Neuer should've been sent off for handling the ball outside the area because Higuian certainly didn't foul him (although the referee thought he did).
Situation where Kramer got injured was just a game situation.. just that Kramer didn't see exactly when Garay got there... I would rather complain about why Höwedes isn't sent off.
Garay should've been sent off, what was that!?
That was deliberate attack straight into Kramer's head.
If Pepe and Zuniga were considered as football bandits, Garay should be too.
@El_Duderino And what about Höwedes knee-high, studs-up tackle? The referee was too timid to bring out a red card in the first half, for either player.
Höwedes should've scored there!
I think Romero is Man of the Match so far, Germany may have trouble passing him today.. This match could end 0-0, I think.
I can honestly only see one winner with the way the game is going right now. Argentina are finding it very difficult to get any grip on the game. As soon as they get the ball, they are instantly pressed.
I don't want to know what Germany are going to set against the Argentina, all know this night is that the victory belong to Argentina. and Messi is going to lift that cup as he did against Nigeria in under 20 worldcup.nevertheless the match is going to an interesting one, Germany 0-2 Argentina.
It will take more than the hand of God to stop Germany, maybe the foot, arm and whole of maradonna's family LOL . Bookies think they are smart but the fans won't be fooled for this one.
Germany have a very balanced team, they transition from defence to attack perfectly. They did wobble when they started a bit but then picked up pace throughout the tournament. They play like Bayern/barcelona in their prime.
Argentina on the other hand are VERY dependent on Messi, Messi looks a bit like Ozil in that No 10 spot but he lacks the strength and pace to distribute the ball fast enough to be dangerous.
Argentina's defensive midfield could be stronger than Germany, But there are so many technicians in that German side, they could do a demolition job on any team parking the bus.
Well lets see what happens , But this is Germany's Word Cup without a doubt.
If fan support is able to tip the balance in either team's favor, then Argentina stand to benefit from the estimated 100,000 supporters that are expected to be in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
A significant portion of those fans are obviously arriving without tickets to the match, but similarly to when Chile beat Spain 2-0 at the Maracana in the group stage, Rio de Janeiro will have the feel of a non-Brazilian city before, during, and after the final whistle.
In their most recent meeting, a 2012 friendly in Frankfurt, Argentina came away with a 3-1 victory courtesy of an own goal from Sami Khedira and goals from Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria. Interestingly, 10 of Germany's starters from their 7-1 semifinal win over Brazil played in that friendly.
@JetFootball47 does anyone need more evidence. Messi had hattrick that game but goal line technology wasn't available. Neuer lucked out...but not today. Messi the savior will score 2 or 3 for all the world to see. Way too stacked
Boateng will have trouble with Higuian. Hummels not 100%, Garay will finally annoucne himself on the world stage. Romero clean sheet, offers will come flowing in at Monaco. Di maria will make PSG drool. Expect aguero and zabaleta to make key contributions. But messi is the goat. The leader of the charge to greatness. Too stacked
@gunmanvan yup yup. Stroll in the park for the messiah. Adm, higuain will be brilliant at the Maracana. The lights will be sky blue and white all game cause Lionel will light up the German "machine". Easy win book it. GOAT
@theklatter26 Argentina will be in their dark blue jerseys and Germany in their usual white jersey. So maybe a slight change in the above comment is in order?
Higuain poised to break out once again, he has played solid in the knockout matches, look for him to score around an 8 tonight , still won't be MOTM that belongs to magician, the messiah, the hero, the warrior, super LEO
@JetFootball47 roll out the red carpet for the Magician today. Messi will stick a knife in Germany today. Expecting a 9.6 rating at the least. Lots of dribbles accompanied by goals tonight. The Best of all time
Thumbs up if you think Messi is the best player in the world. And thumbs down if you think Ronaldo was the worst big name in the tournament, and that Germany will get destroyed by Argentina.
World Cup ratings (goals+assists/matches/rating):
- Rodriguez 8/5/8,4
- Muller 8/6/8,11
- Messi 5/6/ but the highest rating: 8,77.
And you can't tell me that he gets high rating because of dribbling..
Off course, after great historical victory against Brazil 7-1 Germany are apparently favorite in this match, but considering unpredictionly trend on this World Cup, I feel that Argentina will win today.
Germany played 45 minutes in an earlier match, Argentina played 120 + pens in a later one. Germany are far better defensively, and aren't reliant on a single player. That being said, Argentina have the best player in the world, capable of anything in a given moment.
Still think it will be 2-1 Germany.
Germany will win. Why? Well lets first start look at the way the german team have played. They have been extremely strong in every game, and only lost point to a draw against Ghana. Okay so Argentina have won every single game they have played - but remember Argentina have had some extremely easy oppositions in their group play : Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria - and in their knock-out stages: Switzerland, Belgium and a penalty shootout against Netherlands. Argentina have not met a serious opposition, a world class team, even though Netherlands have played an impressive World Cup, but they are not a world class team (yet). Costa-Rica could have made it to the semifinal against Argentina instead of Netherlands, and Argentina would properly have won. But would Argentina had won against France og Brazil? I think not! Both France and Brazil are word class teams, even though Brazil have had two hideous games. Argentina don't have the squad to overpower Germany. Germany will be World Cup Champions2014
You cannot base the final off the previous matches, you have to look at the individuals and there performances, Argentina top heavy talent going to carry them, never dropped a point unlike Germany who tied a very weak Ghanaian side. Leo messi who started the tournament at the maracana will end it there with both hands on the trophy and the ballon d'or. LEGEND
People who keep saying Messi is going to do well, you are probably wrong. He has never scored in a knockout stage, alongside with the fact Germany have clearly noticed they have to shut him down. I t will be a close match, but its going to have to be quite phenomenal for Messi to score from open play.
@bigfreakydaddy The best players rise above any man or zonal marking. And messi does just this. Let's not forget Boateng & Howedes patrol the left side of defense and Argentina's attacks largely happen down that side of the field. Expect a Messi brace tomorrow.
@theklatter26 cannavarro could be on the field in his prime and he wouldn't stop the magical Leo and ADM this team is too good, there is nothing that can stop them. Messi will get at least a hatrick, Germany=levante for captian Leo
Argentina have fixed their weak link in Fernandes. Demicheles has come in beautifully and will shurdown any threat from Muller, Klose will be largely ineffective. Ozil isn't in the right moment. Kroos will get hounded by Argentina midfield. Where's the threat coming from in Germany?? Howedes will be attacked all night
Argentina! Not even gonna be a contest you'll be able to take your dog for a walk by halftime. Messi is too dominant nobody in the universe can stop that left foot, he's untouchable. Messi along with maschaerano is a lethal combo both playing footy of there lives along with Romero. They haven't conceded in what feels like years now. Hummels also looks to be labouring. messi MOTM as well as golden shoe and boot
Argentina depends on players like Messi Mascherano and Dimaria (if he plays) and here in WC 2014 mostly Mascherano helped them to come this far.but Germany is a TEAM ! theres no superstar all the players @ high level and also very strong bench Argentina 8 goals by 4 players Germany 17 goals by 8 players!so technically Germany could win this ... BUT if they couldnt finish it in 90 i hope Argentina wins ;D
I think Messi has unduly high score because in real time he player good only for few minutes.. Argentina was struggling all competition long, with weak teams too, so they don't deserve to win WC. But that is only my opinion. Let the better win!
@mukyze this guys lost. Messi & Co. have been very solid. So what they didnt win 7-1, Messi will save the goals for the Final. IMO, this argentina team is superior to 2006 italy, 2010 spain....Main reason = Messi ballon d'or winner again, golden ball as well.
@makemessicry and what is that? The goal records? No one will look at that when Messi lifts the trophy tomorrow. Klose licks bro. Too old he won't be a factor
Well, before the World Cup everybody said Argentina can win with his attacking trio (Messi, Di Maria, Agüero). Truth is, their defense helped them to get to the final. As they say: Offense wins games, defense wins the tournament.
@Nemeth altough argentina had much goal scoring chances. but yes, finally they build up a great defense, now they have a good chance of win this tournament.
Thumbs up if you think Messi is the best player in the world. And thumbs down if you think Ronaldo was the worst big name in the tournament, and that Germany will get destroyed by Argentina.
@Villa Chances that Messi will completely forget how to dribble and only scores headers from now on are much higher than winning 7-1 against Germany...
@Villa You made me smile with 1-7. Germany is too good a team for that. If everything is right for Argentina I believe that we will see an amazing performance from Messi and the Argentinian defence. Argentina shut down Robben and Van Persie in their last game what other team have accomplished that feat. Look out Muller and Klose the Argentinian defence will be breathing down your necks.
For the good of football and hopefully twist that Germany wins this world, I am Brazilian and I like good football played previlegiando always the goal! I'll be rooting for Germany to win because they deserve more, because able to enchant us Brazilians in and out of the field, many players with educated parents in our Brazilian mostly with Germany are together in this great end! most Brazilians who will be in germany this maracana should support that charm us with good football played, and affection that all players demostrarao to our parents, no longer really miss when I leave, I hope you go away with the title to crown further our union :)
@swagio how Germany used they're entire attack against a baffled brazillian side if you cheer for Germany you will surely be dissapointed. Super Argentina for me, will be making tons of money tomorrow
Whoscored official preview have it all wrong. 2-0 is laughable and not consistent to what's happened in this tournament thus far. So the team without a goal conceded in 330 consecutive minutes, allows 2 in the showpiece? Funny.
Also, last time I checked Brazil didn't have Messi/ADM/Higuain/Aguero/Lavezzi. This amount of class will be way too much for Germany and their slow defense. We could see an early goal from Messi which really puts Germany under pressure. Germany = Choke Artists
Argentina have this in the bag. Very confident group, I expect ADM to start, and have a major impact. But the main man, Messi, will score both goals en route to a 2-0 finals win. Schwienstiger & co. will not keep him locked all game. 64th min and 83rd min strikes by Messi
The team which won against brazil in knockout phase never won the worldcup.1986-france, 1990-argentina, 2006-france, 2010-netherland. The strange thing is the above mentioned teams reached final(except france 1986-semifinal) and they lost.
@sun Take the number of letters in your pseudo, three. OK then, subtract two. What does it make? One, right? Well, one is exactly the number of goals that Argentina scored against Iran, the weakest team in this World Cup. Don't tell me it's a coincidence. You know it's not.
Messi will be the Man of the Match. Argentina will likely win 3-1. I believe that Messi has been preparing for the possibility of being in the final for most of last season. If Di Maria is fit and plays 100% of the game I believe that Messi with be almost unstoppable at least two goals for Messi.
Like most of you I'm looking forward to a fantastic game whoever wins.
Thumbs up if you think Messi is the best player in the world. And thumbs down if you think Ronaldo was the worst big name in the tournament, and that Germany will get destroyed by Argentina.
nerves will decide this game, and for me it seems like that 21th century German teams are not worthy of Lineker's great saying. German teams have lost many semi's and finals in World cups, European Championships and in the Champions League since 2002. Germany still looks well prepared but Argentina is their toughest opponent both offensively and defensively.
didnt Holland trash the holding Champions Spain 5:1 in this very tournament? they struggled every other game until Argentina put them to the sword and kicked them out of the tournament, Holland had zero shots on the Argentine goal for 120 minutes, to think Germany will see off Argentina like they saw off Brazil is madness, a team of Messi, Di Maria, Mascherano, Aguero, Lavezzi, Higuain, Zabaletta etc to just lose to Germany, sheer stupidity by the person who came up with a 2:0 prediction, the game will be tight but is Lionel Messi's biggest night of his life and with Di Maria back and Aguero fit, Germany will struggle however the German team is well strong mentally after seeing off Brazil rampantly in the semi, i want an European team to win but would love Messi to win this World Cup so he can prove doubters wrong and to go down as the greatest ever footballer in human existence! stage is yours Lio!
@albgunn
and how many goals did argentina shoot against these WORLD-ClASS-Defenders from Holland in 120min?
and who did that brilliant win-bringing-assist against Belgium?
and how many goals scored argentina against Switzerland in the first 117mins?
and how many goals scored they against the Iran in the first 89mins?
and who did the importan very first goal in the first match for Argentina?
Argentina is having good individualists in the offense but not really a inspiring teamconcept.
they will score maximum 1 goal against Neuer, Hummels & Co.
One good game against brazil and every body forget the whole competition , did you forget ghana , Algeria and france and what happen to germany in all that games , why you think germany will play like they did against brazil and like against france or against ghana for example it is afinal and every thing can happen, ehat happen ed agaist brazil is thing happens only once in every 30 or 40 years, I lnow that most of people here are from europe and they went an European team to on south America like brazil did before but that will not happen and argentina will fight for south America
@abderrahmen27 Did you forget about how Argentina have played you could argue that if they win they would be one of the most undeserving teams to ever win the world cup.
@Dempseydumpster most of argentine games were boring because the opponnent parked the bus most of the time and played counter attack, but argentine came to win this tournament and they played very clever not wasting their energy shooting 3-4-5 goals to enemies like switzerland. and in fact belgium was the only team that played football against argentine, too bad argentine was unlucky at finishing, they could have won by 4-5 goals while belgium had only 1 or less chance. face it guys, argentine came to win this title, this will be a similar match to france - germany or argentine - nederlands.
Germany has the better coach who has been with the squad for going on 10 years now (was assistant under Klinsmann). Germany is a fine tuned machine of quality players (8 different players have scored at least once compared to Argentina's 4 different players). Germany has consistently made it far in the last two subsequent World Cups. The crowd will likely be leaning towards a Germany victory as the last thing Brazilians want to see is an Argentine WC victory on home soil, regardless of what happened to the Seleccao last game. ------- Argentina have the Messi factor. Argentina like to play a frenetic game. ------- The only way I see Argentina taking this game is if they score first by dictating the speed of the game at its start and catching Germany off guard. The longer this stretches out, the more possession and Germany is going to have. ------- I simply can't back a team that ponies off of one players abilities for the majority of its goal scoring opportunities. Germany take it, 2-1
Enough. You have all witnessed what happened during the semifinals when Germany wrote a page of History, in what will likely be remembered as the "Game of the Century". German football has reached a new Golden Era and the achievements of this team, in each and every aspect of the game, will give inspiration to new generations of players across the World, for years and decades to come. They have brought back the "beautiful game", for the benefit of us all. The only fair and acceptable outcome to this final is a German victory. The converse would be an inexcusable travesty to the Sport.
@antonsmith About your comment: 'The only fair and acceptable outcome to this final is a German victory.' That's the sad and interesting about football, this is not always the case!
Most of the time the team which scores more goals wins ;-)!
As a German my biggest fear is the following: Argentinas defence was not defeated in the WC, one standard situation with one second of lost focus and the match will be won by Argentina. If they had only one chance in the match and played terrible for 90 minutes, no-one will ask for this in four years, only the star on the jersey counts.
@joergsi I'm not saying it will be easy; I'm only saying that Germany deserves the win. Argentine is a tougher opponent than Brazil (though weaker than France IMO) and they will "park the bus" for the entire game. Germany has to keep playing at their top level to get this one. But a lot of people underestimate how difficult it was to beat Brazil on their home soil, with the immense pressure and the intimidating crowd. Even with a slightly stronger team, Argentine would have fallen apart against Brazil.
Looking at those hilarious ratings in here, I highly suppse there has been a bot around. With so many people rooting for Germany, I don't see 20+ dislikes happening all of a sudden 1 hour after a comment has been posted. I'm really looking forward to sunday.
@abderrahmen27 You have got to be kidding me?? Argentina gave a midiocre display yesterday, if they play like that the Germans are sure winners. I think the Germans will be too much for Argentina, they will control the game with their passing. It may not be as easy as the semi final against Brazil, but they should win.
Germany has to win Sunday, the Brazilians are all mostly very cheering for Germany in this final. always yield to the best football Germany 8-0 Argentina chumps. exchanged five song, never see these Argentines winning a world here in Brazil, it would be the greatest tragedies :)
Vamos Alemanha , quero ver um goleada domingo kkkkkkkk eu vou esta la para ver todo o choro argentino kkkkkkk oooooo klose e um terror :) alemanha, alemanha winer
@pablo.fernandes.18294 sonha boiola.

I never understood why Lavezzi was taken out. He was by far the best player in the first half.
@CirdomAkul that probably costed the game for arg, sabella was a good coach overall, but subbing him off was a big mistake imo too

Well, back to the cave for another 4 years...
Super Deutschland! Super Deutschland! OLE OLE OLE, We will equal Brasil in 2018, 5 stars here we come!!!
Mesut Özil having zero(!) dribbles is utter nonesense! Various videos out there proof the difference...
aguero and mascherano must have a red card. so many hard fouls at schweinsteiger, concussion for kramer.. and schweinsteiger get a yellow card lol @ italy referees. argentinia dont play football they are rugby, boxing and antifairplay worldchampions!
@oh_snap Same goes for Schürrle. I don't know, but that run he did right before he gave the assist looked rather dribbly to me.
Golden Boot = Adidas Messi = Adidas Ahhh...ok !
"Decime qué se siente ahora" JAJAJAJAJA 7 COPAS SIN GANARRRR !!!
lol whoscored couldn't give messi the highest rating, so nobody is the motm?
I guess this will be the last comment , See u in the next world cup Folks !!!!!!
alien will never hold world cup trophy
@BlackSign lol
aguero and mascherano must have a red card. so many hard fouls at schweinsteiger, concussion for kramer.. argentinia dont play football they are rugby, boxing and antifairplay worldchampions!
@wawa you`re right aguero deserved a red card, so did mascherano, but there was also 2 red cards for germany, so the refereeing wasn`t biased.
@wawa Aguero especially he punched Schweinsteiger in the face going for the header.
Сongratulation Germany !!
Neuer should have been sent off for that knee to the head
worthy champions!
I think we can all agree on one thing: Palacio should have won the "Golden Rat" for the most hideous haircut in this World Cup.
@Ffaris Aguero and Mascherano must have a red card. many fouls an schweinsteiger, concussion for kramer.. argentinia dont play football rather rugby.
@Faceman Seems like the correct call from the ref. They both went for the ball, Neuer touched it first. No foul one side or the other.
@antonsmith it was not correct, because the ref were given a freekick to germany and didn't let it go - through in Argentina
@antonsmith he kneed him in the head, he had no right to jump with his knee that high, that was a bad foul and a red card if its anyone but Germany
@JoeB91 And Kramer got knocked out from the Defender. Schweinstieger got punched in the face from Aguero. Schweinstieger was knocked to ground more times than he was running with the ball. Neuer got the ball, if Neuer had just taken Higuain out it would've been a penalty.
Foooooooorzzzzza Germmmmmany
James, Robben or Muller should've won the Golden Ball. Messi played good in the group stages but didnt do anything in the knockout stages.
@HussainZ If Neuer wasn't Germany's keeper, Algeria would have destroyed Germany.
@HussainZ Did Costa Rica win the world cup?
Di Maria did not play, and Aguero played badly (probably bc he was not fit). Messi created so many chances for them and always drew 3-4 german players with him. It's his teammates that did not take those opportunities.
wtf is up with the match reports. Get it together WhoScored.
Who cares about the World cup? What I really want to know is why in the world did Messi win the Golden Ball? We are all likely to forget this in this week. People stop whining.....
Even though Messi lost, he is still able to be at the center of attention. That guy never ceases to amaze me.
messi role was to create chances rather than to score, and he did well but he was monitored in all of his matches, and manged to score and create chances, also he won 4 times man of the match, and you all say robben deserve it more... honestly what did he do more than messi, and he was playing only attack role...
@a_alarda messi is world class in creating chances, seems your dislikes cares about goals, wait messi scored 4 while robben 3... messi had key role of argentine final, most of their opponents marked messi with 3-4 players, and still great performance from messi...
@Faceman Neuer could win the Golden Ball too. He deserved it.
Congratulations to the German team for this well deserved win!!! What an outstanding midfield they have. Their passing game is creative and artful, and they are dominant everywhere on the field. What a brilliant goal by Götze. Exceptional team effort. Let's celebrate this moment!
@antonsmith yes and this despite argentinia bring with violence a concussion to the last 6er kramer.
@antonsmith they won with very similar way like spain or barcelona succed in last years, but i wouldnt call artful, they are efficient, but not that artful. they do it in "germanic style" ^^
@Faceman same thing losers say "but they dont play beautiful" lol. football is a sport not a art.
@antonsmith i have different taste, but i admit germany did very well.
argentina forgot to take messi with them when they left the group stage.
@thedanielgrant after the team stage the teams are stronger. and then its not enought for "1 goal 9 defenders and 1 messi"
Adidas had a say in the Golden Ball. Adidas sponsor Messi...
@Villa FIFA is seriously biased towards Messi.
James Rodriguez, Muller, Robben etc played better but give the best player award to Messi. Because he is a 'Good Boy'. #FIFALogic
Not a single goal in the knockout stage and Messi is given the best player of the tournament award? No disrespect but FIFA is Messi-biased.
But he's a good boy.
Messi Golden Ball...
@JulienBraillard Probably the most undeserving Golden Ball in the history of World Cup.
Messi? Well, okay. I.. honestly think James or Müller should've gotten that.
Can't understand how Messi won the golden ball tbh. I guess it's a sympathy gift.
@TheFactsProvider It seems to be that a player of the winners doesn't often get it. Forlan in 2010, Kahn in 2002.
@TheFactsProvider money money money...
@TheFactsProvider it's the loser trophy to prevent Messi's tears
Blatter makes sure 'The Good boy' is happy.
Argentina fan since 1990.but i never thought they would get this far.i thought it would be a Holand Germany final.it's a sad day.i'm r sad for Messi.but i'll still cheer this wonderful team.
Messi player of the tournament? Ridiculous....
Messi got the golden ball? Whut?! Why not Robben or someone else?
@footballforlife because , the golden ball is always given to the best player in the losing team in the final . And messi is the best arge tinian player -,-
@uumaati No, he wasn't. Mascherano was.
@uumaati That's a weird way to choose the Golden boy. Why don't they just give it to the best player?
And Blatter makes sure to give Messi the best player of the tournament award....
@rokka222 He didn't do anything because his job was to provide for Messi
Whoscored should give points for playing like a warrior instead of dribbles, that way Schweinsteiger would have a much higher rating! He's been fouled by the thugs of Argentina and still braved through everything.
@dastyyy Schweinsteiger was clearly MOTM. Don't look at these ridiculous ratings.
Messi with that attitude during team talk before ET - what was that?
GERMANY THATS MY TEAM. RJ STRIKES AGAIN
Congratulations Madridista scum: you've just supported a tiki-taka Barça-esque team without knowing it!
That goes both way. Barcelona fans supported team that was parking the bas the whole tournament.
@El_Duderino oh yes Argentina had 36% ball possession - which is barca style :D
If Dribbles wasn't rated so highly Messi would have had a 6.1
To all the Cristiano fanboys here slagging off Messi, let's think where he right now... oh right, probably at the hairdressers in Portugal. Yeah, what a player he is.
@alexreg cristiano? we are talking from the worldcup final! lol cristiano?!? wtf?!
I never saw Ronaldo walking away from team talks. Messi did tonight. How a captain can just decide that he's above his team? He played very poorly and never step up in knock-out stage.
Messi 7.0, Mascherano 6.7...what a joke.
Yep. But you know, dribbles ...
Argentina was helpless once they had to attack.
@El_Duderino Not really. Higuain, Messi and Palacio had golden chances and should've scored them all but their finishing was dreadful.
@TheFactsProvider they didn't create it, Germany defense made huge mistake. Even so, i'm talking about the time after Gotze's goal. What Argentina created then? Nothing. They didn't even come close. Not to mention they had zero shots on target. ZERO.
@El_Duderino yes germanys defense had a bad day. but for argentinia (messi, higuain) its enought.
@El_Duderino Well obviously they didn't create anything after Germany scored. This match was a whoever scored first wins game. The zero shots on target was due to their poor finishing after those golden chances.
@El_Duderino Argentina had 3 100% clear cut chances. Germany had maybe 2 half chances. Enough said.
@Ivannnnn chances are something for losers. you win with goals not with chances. its right argentina had the better chances but who cares? argentina cant get a goal germany was nearer then the 1:0 2:0.
@Ivannnnn You sure it was three, not two? And Germany had also three. Howedes, Schurrle and Gotze. Sure not half-chances...
@El_Duderino Messi's chance at the begining of the second half. He usually scores those without looking. Shurrle's and Gotze's chances would have been misses more often than not.
Messi flopped against Belgium, flopped against Switzerland, flopped against Germany Messi continues to fail in big matches.
@HalaMadrid12 muller flopped too. normal he shot 1-2 goals vs such teams like argentinia. and now?
@HalaMadrid12 Your captain played great against the Netherlands.
Justice prevailed.
Argentina blew it. Pure and simple. Higuain and Palacio should've both scored and Messi was nowhere to be seen. His freekick at the end was nothing short of embarrassing.
Hey, but if they'd play American Footbal, he'd get 2 points for that shot and won the game.
@El_Duderino they did... against Kramer in their own box
Aguero and mascherano must habe red
Muller is like a young Gazelle galloping around the Argentine defense.
@HalaMadrid12 That must be why he didn't even have a single shot. ;)
@alexreg it was a bad day for muller. but the team win and thats the key!
Very well taken by Gotze.
GOTZE!!!
1-0 Germany All The Way
Aguero shoult nave red
Mascherano just habe red
If Argentina don't win this they only have themselves to blame. Higuain and Palacio should've both scored.
@TheFactsProvider Öl argentinia must have 1~2 red cards
I don't understand how Germany have not scored, i think Argentina will win now.
@HalaMadrid12 0 logic
Is this the same Germany that absolutely thrashed Brazil only a few days back? Their talent to choke is absolutely unbelievable! Come on, Win the cup already!!
@kam yes but there are no 0 defenders like vs brasil rather 10
@kam You also have to remember they struggled to beat Algeria so you just can't look at the Brazil game. But to be fair to them Argentina has defended well, as they have done in the tournament.
Such nights like against Brazil don't happen every day. Why do people bring up euphoria so fast?
Stage is set for LEO
@JetFootball47 His stage has been set for 90 minutes....
@sailorripley lol
Yeah, maybe if it was American Football he'd get two points for that last shot.
It's a big paradox that Argentina's attack (Messi, Higuauin, Agüero, Lavezzi, Di Maria) is mentioned as one of the best in the world, and they still had played 0-0 in 3 of 7 matches in this world cup!
Pretty back and forth match to be honest, Argentina will want to take their chances in extra time.
Predictable 90 minutes to be honest, with no team wanting to make the first mistake. Both teams had their chances to win it though.
PUTIN HUYLO!!!
Is Özil playing, or his ghost ?
@rom1_69100 his ghost's shadow :p
@DutchDelight First of all because it was outside the box....
@sailorripley It looked inside to me but if it was outside the box Neuer should've been sent off for handling the ball outside the area because Higuian certainly didn't foul him (although the referee thought he did).
@sailorripley i don't know, i thought it was inside the box, but it was close. Definitely a foul from Neuer of course.
@sailorripley It was either just in or just out the box
@footballforlife I'm German, so trust me: It was outside the box...:)
Ha ha: Messi second worst player on the pitch..oly a 6.1! LMAO!
@sailorripley and second best on the world cup. Where is Ronaldo? heard he broke his flat screen tv, yesterday.
@DelJuve Darling: Grow a sense of humor: I'm just making fun of the people obsessed with the rating system on this site...
Situation where Kramer got injured was just a game situation.. just that Kramer didn't see exactly when Garay got there... I would rather complain about why Höwedes isn't sent off.
@Exti Exactly. At least someone is thinking.
Higuain doesn't even deserve to score from an offside position.
Lavezzi is a diver.
@El_Duderino It wasn't intentional.
Höwedes should've scored there! I think Romero is Man of the Match so far, Germany may have trouble passing him today.. This match could end 0-0, I think.
Argentina looking dangerous on the counter lavezzi running miles messi and higuain linking up nicely should be a goal for Argentina in 2nd half
lavezzi was the best player of the first half and he gets only 6.2 ??! Seriously there are some huge flaws in this rating system.
Höwedes should've been sent off there. Since when is a knee-high, studs-up tackle permitted in football?
@TheFartsProvider lol
@TheFactsProvider If Howedes should be senf off, what about Garay? Jail time.
@El_Duderino That wasn't intentional. If anything Scolari deserves jail time, not Garay.
@TheFactsProvider then foul weould be foul = penalty
@TheFactsProvider That was clearly deliberate, and even if not, still red card and foul. Regulations say so.
@El_Duderino It was unintentional. This sort of thing happens in football. Even the pundits are saying it wasn't deliberate.
I can honestly only see one winner with the way the game is going right now. Argentina are finding it very difficult to get any grip on the game. As soon as they get the ball, they are instantly pressed.
yeah lahm back to original position,
I don't want to know what Germany are going to set against the Argentina, all know this night is that the victory belong to Argentina. and Messi is going to lift that cup as he did against Nigeria in under 20 worldcup.nevertheless the match is going to an interesting one, Germany 0-2 Argentina.
germany no doubt
COME ON MESSI YEAH YEAH YEAH YEA-OH!
khedira out. The path is that much easier
2/0 for Germany
@spursman na bro. Messi king. gonna lift World Cup today
The comments on this site suggest this game is gonna be Germany vs. Messi
@theklatter26 macshareno leading the tournament with 28 tackles, he'll only make it harder on ozil tonight
Too stacked
@theklatter26 100% agree no team can touch the attacking depth of this side, the players for this team will have statutes built for them
Zabaleta gonna be dominant once again, he will achieve best fullback in the world after tonight, although if messi wanted to he could have it too GOAT
Messi's just too good guys
predictions bar your minds so i'll avoid it for the historic night
*Messi hatrick 3-0 Argentina
@gunmanvan yup yup. Stroll in the park for the messiah. Adm, higuain will be brilliant at the Maracana. The lights will be sky blue and white all game cause Lionel will light up the German "machine". Easy win book it. GOAT
@theklatter26 Argentina will be in their dark blue jerseys and Germany in their usual white jersey. So maybe a slight change in the above comment is in order?
@Aish Argentina has choosen the blue jerseys trying to imitate the Italian team.
@DelJuve thumbs up if you think DelJuve is a spammer !
@DelJuve You posted this already.
World Cup ratings (goals+assists/matches/rating): - Rodriguez 8/5/8,4 - Muller 8/6/8,11 - Messi 5/6/ but the highest rating: 8,77. And you can't tell me that he gets high rating because of dribbling..
If Messi wins today, he'll be one of the best ever. If he doesn't, he'll still be one of the best ever. Why? Because it's the same player.
germany will win. the dutch forgot to give messi back, he's still in de jong's pocket.
It will be interesting to see whether Özil or Schürrle will start on the left flank.
@Nemeth I will never understand what you said to get downvoted...I just can't.
@libero Me neither :) Actually Özil starts again, maybe because Schürrle has better impact on the match when coming from the bench.
@Nemeth Maybe. They have different styles too. Low probably finds Ozil more suitable for today's strategy against Argentina.
@bcal The best player in the world!? Not even the best in Argentina.
@bcal I wouldn't say Germany are 'far' better defensively, Argentina are actually pretty sound at the back, especially with Mascherano in the side.
@bcal Germany are far better defensively? really? How so?
I'm very sure Argentina will go home ........ with the cup
@abderrahmen27 Well that would've been funny if the World Cup trophy was actually a cup.
Germany will be World Cup Champions2014
argentina 4-1
Lavezzi will build his legend tonight, mark my words !
Argentina 3:1 Germany.
Go Argentina and go Messi! Make history.
Messi's time to shine, Leo got this :-)
@espana Leo will get "this".
@JetFootball47 Typical stupid Messi fan boys
Argentina have fixed their weak link in Fernandes. Demicheles has come in beautifully and will shurdown any threat from Muller, Klose will be largely ineffective. Ozil isn't in the right moment. Kroos will get hounded by Argentina midfield. Where's the threat coming from in Germany?? Howedes will be attacked all night
@theklatter26 sub in Schürrle, Götze or Podolski.
@benchmark04 i told you!
Hummels also looks to be labouring. messi MOTM as well as golden shoe and boot
super messi & super Argentina it will be 3-2 win
Since 2011 :D
Argentina will do just that that Spain did in 2010.
germany to lose 1- 0
Hope Germany will win
Germany have an excellent team.
@HalaMadrid12 Yes...But germany doesn't have Magic Messi
@theklatter26 Tactic > Individuality
@theklatter26 it looks like if Messi wouldn't be an argentine nearly noone would support Argentina outside the country...
@theklatter26 they don't need magic Messi, they have magic Klose,Magic Muller,Messi would wish to achive what they have in the world cup
@DelJuve Which one is F*k you?
Germany 0:0 Argentia ---- Penalty 4:3 for Germany
anybodies game this expect a stalemate at full time and let neuer do the rest
Germany 1-7 Argentina
@Villa Chances that Messi will completely forget how to dribble and only scores headers from now on are much higher than winning 7-1 against Germany...
@neumi17 shut the fuck up..nobody give a shit about you
@Villa You made me smile with 1-7.
Like if you support Germany; dislike if you support Argentina. Thank you.
I`m since 2011 in whoscored! :)
not will be a massacre, but Germany's ratification be the best World Championship!!!
leo messi my star will shine again and as i have sayed always the king will rise again and it is leo messi
@matin.nazary Messi will score, but teams will win...
@neumi17 shut the fuck up..nobody give a shit about you
@neumi17 yes of course but the here will shine
go Germany Super Deutschland!!!!!
@swagio how Germany used they're entire attack against a baffled brazillian side if you cheer for Germany you will surely be dissapointed. Super Argentina for me, will be making tons of money tomorrow
@swagio you will be severely disappointed ..
@theklatter26 SUCK IT
@theklatter26 HA.
Stage is set for Messi. Plain & simple. Germany will not get in his way. Book it
Whoscored official preview have it all wrong.
@Strategy Only two goals by Messi ? I think he is gonna score at least 4 against such a weak team...
@neumi17 shut the fuck up..nobody give a shit about you
@Strategy Messi will perform 10 dribbles in his own half and receive the MotM reward here, yes.
@Strategy lol
@albgunn and how many goals did argentina shoot against these WORLD-ClASS-Defenders from Holland in 120min? and who did that brilliant win-bringing-assist against Belgium? and how many goals scored argentina against Switzerland in the first 117mins? and how many goals scored they against the Iran in the first 89mins? and who did the importan very first goal in the first match for Argentina? Argentina is having good individualists in the offense but not really a inspiring teamconcept. they will score maximum 1 goal against Neuer, Hummels & Co.
@albgunn@albgunn that's what I am trying to explain to people here but no one understand.
@abderrahmen27 yea man, i dont know how can ppl blinded by that 7-1
@abderrahmen27 Did you forget about how Argentina have played you could argue that if they win they would be one of the most undeserving teams to ever win the world cup.
@Dempseydumpster Totally agree. A team that parks the bus for the entire tournament does not deserve to win the World Cup.
Germany take it, 2-1
ARGENTINA CHAMPION!
I don't think lavezzi will start if di maria can play sapella will keep perez with bigilia and mascherano and will face germany mid 3 against 3
easy win 3-0
Hope Germany will win by 3-0
Looking at those hilarious ratings in here, I highly suppse there has been a bot around. With so many people rooting for Germany, I don't see 20+ dislikes happening all of a sudden 1 hour after a comment has been posted. I'm really looking forward to sunday.
@Cherk who cares the whoscored coments. the wm title goes toooooo germanyyyy!
I am very sure Argentina will win this by penalties or any way . If argentina play like yesterday and di maria plays to germany have no chance
@abderrahmen27 lollz
Absolutely buzzing for this match.
Hope Germany will Win , 2 goals from Muller.
Germany, Brazil is with you! each goal will be a party here for the Brazilians:)
