Team News
Watford
Liverpool
- Quique Sanchez Flores is still without long-term absentees Joel Ekstrand and Tommy Hoban, while the Watford boss is confident Sebastian Prodl and Valon Behrami will be fit enough to make the matchday squad on Sunday.
- Watford could be unchanged for this one.
- Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be without Daniel Sturridge, Joe Gomez and Danny Ings for the trip to Watford. Jon Flanagan is due back in first-team training, but he is still a long way from being in contention.
- Dejan Lovren's knee injury wasn't as bad as first feared, but he will still be absent until the New Year. This will force Mamadou Sakho, who has only just returned from injury himself, straight into the starting XI.
- James Milner is out with a calf injury, which will see Lucas come in. A late fitness test is required for Simon Mignolet, which means Adam Bogdan is in line for first ever Premier League appearance for Liverpool.
- Christian Benteke's style doesn't really suit the style of football Klopp is promoting from his players and he could have to watch on from the bench here.
Bad bad keeper, Bogdan. Klopp should buy a good keeper
@luckroth Yes certainly but not enough, except good keeper, Liverpool need a great center defender and center midfielder and forward
35% possession, 54% passing rate, 6 total shots...3 goals scored and a win I guess there really are several ways to skin a cat worst Liverpool performance I've seen in a long time (worse than the 6-1 v Stoke, because the season was basically over and there was nothing to play for)
Klopp is great manager. Problem is Liverpool players
I feel bad for Klopp
Coutinho-Firmino-Lallana works better when they have space to run in and combine i.e against bigger teams, when they don't have 60 % of possession. Klopp needs to get best out of Benteke or Sturridge back to fitness. Then again, defense is an other story.
and it started
Skrtel lol...and they say Lovren is bad...Lovren is Messi for Skrtel...
Not surprised Liverpool lost, just that it was by this big a margin. Klopp's Dortmund couldn't beat teams like Watford and the only result I could rule out here was a Liverpool win. I didn't like Liverpool's midfield at all. Minimal invention. You only need 1 of Can, Henderson and Lucas (Can is by far the most accomplished) with a sitting playmaker next to them. Coutinho is better in the 10 than wide of a striker and Firmino is no good as a 9, he is a right sided striker come winger a la a budget Suarez. Klopp needs a quality CM in the window or Liverpool will continue to be 1D. Defensively, they look as bad as under Rodgers. When Sakho is your BEST defender, you know you have problems. Watford on the other hand look very good. I'd be surprised if they are relegated. Usually a lack of goals and a poor defence costs promoted teams, Watford are the exact opposite in those regards. Well done Flores.
Don't call something a Bogdan error leading to a goal when he redeemed his own error. I'm happy to see Liverpool lose, but calling it a Bogdan error is utter rubbish. He had the ball in both hands. It's a Clattenburg error leading to a goal, not a Bogdan error.
@TacticalMastermind he did have it in his hands indeed, but the error was him dropping it in the first place...if he catches it, the foul never happens
@TacticalMastermind- Completely agree. Clattenburg had yet another crap game. Our refs really are the pits.
Klopp losing to a team wearing a Dortmund kit. I wouldn't want to be him right now...
Give Klopp some time, koziol, he just got there.
@What4 No, his magic has already worn off. His approach to football is one dimensional and is kind if dated...
Coutinho is a bit of a brainless turd isn't he? He ran himself into an offside position and was pissed off at Origi for not passing the ball to him. Don't know what he was on.
clown*
No balance in Liverpool team. Two clow goalkeepers, defence made of wooden players, no midfield leader, Origi is good prospect but so far too young, same Ibe. They need some expericned midfielder who can be leader or central defender of this kind.
Beautifully worked third goal.
Can is disaster
@Ouftey- He didn't play well but he is being asked to do something he can't do. Liverpool are in desperate need of a sitting playmaker so Can can play naturally.
Liverpool will never get such a gifted world class coach in such a tragic season.Liverpool never realised to improve the defence line. Guess what they are being paid for it every season.
Bogdan is disaster
Klopp certainly find the way for win
@Homayoon No, he only finds a way for pressing and counter pressing. That's his only game plan. If this doesn't work he is clueless. This is why Dortmund plays much better now and is more creative than under Klopps guidance...
Bogdan was fouled
Watford 1-2 Liverpool, Coutinho to score
Liverpool need to catch their winning spirit. Liverpool win by 1 goal margin.
Watford was doing a great job of beating mediocre sides lately, but I think their winning streak comes to an end here.
@truestory looks like they are beating yet another "mediocre side".
Tough match for Liverpool particularly if Ighalo keeps up his good form, need to be at their best to win.
Tough game for both, either 3-2 or 1-4
Watford should have enough quality to fend off those plucky upstarts. 2-1.
7th vs 10th is a top match?. and somewhere in Serie A only a juventus game is a top match..
Don't be mad but Watford is not an easy team at home, and Liverpool sucks so much, with Klopp or with anyone else
@tinxhi Liverpool haven't been amazing, but when it clicks they are unstoppable.
Liverpool win all the way here
Liverpool win
#Watford Winnnnnnnnn.....
Ighalo will break Skrtel, 1-1.
ighalo is in form and Liverpool play with defense mind if their opponent have good strikers. well. Watford win 3-2
This is the type of team Klopp has always struggled against, even when he had better players at his disposal (Dortmund title-winning campaigns). 1-1.
Watford performs well against low-mid teams. Liverpool isn't like that so I am guessing a 0-1 or 1-2!
Liverpool win 3-0
