Stunner from Benteke. Martial's was decent but Skrtel shouldn't have let him get a shooting opportunity. Watching both these teams, it's clear the thing both would benefit from is a set, balanced system. I don't know why LvG doesn't go with a 3 of Depay, Mata and Young behind the striker with Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin sitting. How would that NOT work? Too many managers nowadays are trying to be esoteric and "unique" a la Guardiola without realising Pep has always had teams with 6 or more world class players.
Benteke and Martials goals were very good. Think Skrtel could have done better for martials but it's still great skill. Benetekes was insane, never seen an overhead hit that hard.
A lot of people say Liverpool had a good transfer window, but I think their failure to sign a defensive midfielder and centerback, is starting to haunt them now.
@j.c I won't discredit your analysis of Liverpool's squad... but in my opinion what Liverpool need first and foremost is a better manager. Brenda is useless.
Schweinsteiger looked a bit tired in the 1st half but was an absolute boss in the 2nd. Covered every blade of grass. Carrick was as influential as ever.
@MiguelSuave Yeah remember seeing him start as a CDM a few times last season though he had some shaky games like the one against Everton. He has been very impressive whenever he has played in defence. Did well at LB last season too.
Great 2nd half. Special strikes from Martial and Benteke. I hope people don't forget the latter's goal. Consolation goals are mostly forgotten and understandably so but it deserves to live long in the memory. Definitely a goal of the season contender.
@patricia.singh.14 people don't hate martial. They hate the ridiculous fee. Martial had no control pver it and people should want him to succeed. Im an arsenal fan and I wish martial to become an awesome player
van gaal and his crazy tactics, he should play goalkeeper as striker, would be tallest in opponents penalty area. On the other hand useless Milner and joke Benteke who scores 1 in 10 chances
At this moment, Man U are slightly less crap than Liverpool, so I'll go Man U 1 - 0 Liverpool. Not even "TEAM SPIRIT" can save Rodgers. Fellaini to elbow his way to the winning goal.
Its actually laughable how these two teams who a couple of years ago had two of the best attacks in the PL now are crap in that department. Went for a draw.
Mata was brilliant the last time these two met. This time I can't predict but I think it will be a dull match. Note: 3 or more goals per match after 2013 when these two met
I think Liverpool would take a draw right now. The game is away from home, Sturridge hasn't made it back in time. Henderson and Lallana are still injured and of course Coutihno is suspended. United has every 1st team player fit so a draw is a much better result for Liverpool than it is for United.
This has to be the worst 2 sides these 2 great teams have fielded in recent times. All the money wasted by both managers is criminal. Utd should be competing with City and Chelsea with the money spent yet you just cannot see it with this current team. If AF had spent this money well.... As for rodgers he has a handful of games left lose this wkd and with games against villa (who always beat us at anfield) and 4 away games next at everton, spurs, chelsea and man city it can only be a matter of time.
1-0 United. Schneiderlin MOTM. The loss of Henderson and Coutinho will be too much for Liverpool to get a result. Also, the referee will favour Man U due to the match being at Old Trafford.
I expect a tight, cagey and turgid affair with only 1 or 2 goals. Hopefully that means we're in for a 4-4 thriller. Van Gaal needs to get a system where players are in their best positions. Mata wide right in Depay's best position doesn't make sense on any level. Depay is a potentially world class RW and Mata is a fine #10 so naturally why not switch them... Blind in central defence is a disaster waiting to happen too. Benteke will be targeting him all day. I thought after the transfer window Utd were CM heavy and van Gaal wasted a lot of money on double-ups without addressing key, weak areas- in particular the central defence and striking positions. I find it hard to believe a successful manager could spend £200m+ and inherit an already decent squad yet still have holes.
@HassanAshas- Define "bigger"? Real and Barcelona are the only 2 teams in Spain so it makes sense the 2 league games per season between them is big- especially since it goes a fair way to deciding the title. It's essentially a world class version of pre-2011 Rangers v Celtic. There hasn't been a constant 3rd team in Spain, a few have come and gone. Recently have Atletico joined the party. Can they remain there? Only time will tell but I suspect in 5 years they will be gone.
@HassanAshas In Asia it's close but in South America and the Latin world there's no contest. Also, el Clasico has the worlds best players while this game features Danny Ings and Lucas Leiva!
@Overmars- You don't receive almost double the viewers just on a slight margin in Asia. There's the majority of north America and a slight margin in Europe too (Germany and France in particular). The projected viewing figures for this match (last season's 4th and 5th placed EPL teams) is circa 700 million, and for the pretentiously titled Clasico (last season's 1 and 2 by a mile) only 400 million. The max global audience one can expect for a football match is 1 billion. I don't disagree on the quality of player on show, although it's hard to compare 4th v 5th versus 1st v 2nd between the top 2 leagues (City v Chelsea's quality compared to Valencia v Sevilla), but people want more than football purism and diving. Some find that an alien concept but figures don't lie and they aren't mugs in Asia and the US when it comes to football anymore.
At this time, the prediction for the match from Whoscored is definitely crazy... 3-2,Are you serious? For two teams scored 5 goals(where only three were real goals) in 4 games, but now as much in one game between them? I do not believe. I bet a maximum of 2 goals in this game. 1-0;1-1;0-1
@richikhin This prediction is ridiculous by whoscored for sure. 1-0 to United is probably the most likely scoreline looking at the way both teams have started the campaign. It's laughable to predict 3-2.
hello all, well man utd is the team that i support and i strongly think they will be better in this match than liverpool, a 2-0 or a 2-1 to mutd for me...#GGMU
Liverpool will be desperate to put things right after their horror show at home to west ham. They will likely blitz man utd to pieces in this game as they need to get back on track again and continue their strong start to the season (apart from the last game of course). They know that this is their last chance to do Brendan Rodgers a significant favour this season. The same applies to Brendan as well, he understands that he has to get his game perfect on Saturday as they would love to kick start their season against their bitterest rivals, who were under siege in the ninties, but have since then been on their toes for the last 10 to 20 years. Home advantage does count, in which will provide Liverpool with a sterner test than expected. However, Liverpool wi season as they owe their fans a response like no other before. Liverpool to deliver a fast tacking display and take the game to the home team. My final predication. 0-2 or 1-3.
@jchann1 You remember what you said to me when I predicted that West Ham would win at Anfield? How did that game turn out? How's your prediction that Liverpool will replace Man City in the top four looking? What's your definition of a strong start? One legitimate wonder goal, nothing else?
Some people will say Depay is Uniteds key player but for me he is very one footed. To defend against him all you need to do is show him onto his left foot and don't let him cut inside onto his right.
Liverpools game plan will be to put Benteke on Blind the same that Swansea did with Gomis. Man United need to get Mata in the game, he is their key player.
@patricia.singh.14 Yes, which is nuts. Or he could prefer buying potential over the finished article, or he just didn't think Di Maria fit his 'philosophy'.
@patricia.singh.14 I'm not saying he's finished as a player, I meant that he is one of the best players in the world already, while Martial has potential.
@David20 Yeah, may the least sh*t team win, and that's coming from a Liverpool supporter. Going by most recent form, nobody knows what will happen. I think both teams will be very cagey and trying not to loose rather than trying to win. A stupid mistake by a defender will probably decide this.
@mikers135 Liverpool can win if Benteke just watches and copies Gomis performance. Gomis targeted Blind and bullied him all day. Benteke should do the same as Blind isn't comfortable in the CB role with a large CF on him.
Liverpool were just awful. So bad. No wonder all there best players want to leave. (Suarez and Sterling).
@Overmars u said all the best players, sterling, come on man, he is not in the of best players
:) :) :)
Stunner from Benteke. Martial's was decent but Skrtel shouldn't have let him get a shooting opportunity. Watching both these teams, it's clear the thing both would benefit from is a set, balanced system. Benteke and Martials goals were very good. Think Skrtel could have done better for martials but it's still great skill. Benetekes was insane, never seen an overhead hit that hard.
Gomez, Ibe and Benteke have a big potential, but not in Liverpool.
@AndreyNosatii What does that even mean?
@LionelJ Liverpool were awful; poorly coached, poorly setup and badly disorganised. Those 3 will do well away from Liverpool.
A lot of people say Liverpool had a good transfer window, but I think their failure to sign a defensive midfielder and centerback, is starting to haunt them now.
@j.c Sakho is pretty damn solid.. Still don't understand why Rodgers doesn't play him
@j.c I won't discredit your analysis of Liverpool's squad... but in my opinion what Liverpool need first and foremost is a better manager. Brenda is useless.
Schweinstieger fouled clyne to allow United to get their 1st goal
@LionelJ What? You could see him getting pushed out the way.
Did united really get Schweinsteiger for £9m. Seen it doing the rounds. That is an absolute bargain.
@NotBiased 6,30 millions pounds actually :-)! Absolute bargain indeed!
@CoolBreeze90 Even better...
Schweinsteiger looked a bit tired in the 1st half but was an absolute boss in the 2nd. Covered every blade of grass. Carrick was as influential as ever.
Well taken goal by Blind as well. Not bad for a defender eh? It was perfectly set up and hit with great power and precision.
@NotBiased Blind is not really a defender is he now?personally Love him as a CDM
The man nobody really wanted to see against Benteke is voted for man of the match! Blind had an excellent game.
That goal was Henry-esque. Can't wait to see Martial over the next decade!
great goals (overhead) by Benteke and great Henry-like from left wing dribble one by Martial
Martial has arrived..........................
Good debut from Martial, showing what he's capable off! Im seeing nice things for him in the future at ManUtd
Yay Martial
way to prove the haters wrong martial
@patricia.singh.14 people don't hate martial. They hate the ridiculous fee. Martial had no control pver it and people should want him to succeed. Im an arsenal fan and I wish martial to become an awesome player
where is rooney?
@william265 he is injured
What a goal from Blind
Looks like a testimonial game.
Crap game between two crap teams.
@NotBiased Chelsea and/or City fan?
@jcg same question i am asking as well
@jcg Nope.
Bring on Martial.
Depay is a disappointment
Fellaini as striker.....Wow! LVG has some ludicrous Philosophy!
0-0 it looks like
van gaal and his crazy tactics, he should play goalkeeper as striker, would be tallest in opponents penalty area. On the other hand useless Milner and joke Benteke who scores 1 in 10 chances
David de gea MOTM
At this moment, Man U are slightly less crap than Liverpool, so I'll go Man U 1 - 0 Liverpool. Not even "TEAM SPIRIT" can save Rodgers. Fellaini to elbow his way to the winning goal.
Draw game 1-1 (Mata & Benteke)
Its actually laughable how these two teams who a couple of years ago had two of the best attacks in the PL now are crap in that department. Went for a draw.
Man Utd 2 Liverpool 1
Mata was brilliant the last time these two met. This time I can't predict but I think it will be a dull match. Note: 3 or more goals per match after 2013 when these two met
0-0 i think..
I expect a boring 0-0 draw. These two teams are terrible attacking-wise this season.
I expect very tough match and max two goals. Under 2.5 goals @ 1.70 looks valuable
A boring 0-0 draw.
I think Liverpool would take a draw right now. The game is away from home, Sturridge hasn't made it back in time. Henderson and Lallana are still injured and of course Coutihno is suspended. United has every 1st team player fit so a draw is a much better result for Liverpool than it is for United.
I can't vote for Martial MOTM :(
@Murgen Why would you want to? He's not going to start.
#GGMU....tomorrow is the big match AT old trafford man utd win, #GGMU
£650m spent on these two teams in past 2 seasons, I hope the game is worth 2 hours of one's time and doesnt end up in a boring draw!
2:0 UNITED!!! MOTM: Mata GGMU
This has to be the worst 2 sides these 2 great teams have fielded in recent times. All the money wasted by both managers is criminal. MANUTD 3-0 LIVERPOOL GGMU
Liverpool to win it...
1-0
I have a feeling that we will see the true color of Firmino in this match.
I find it hard to believe a successful manager could spend £200m+ and inherit an already decent squad yet still have holes.
@SteveHyland Depay has been disappointment till now both for Man U and Netherlands.
is this clash really bigger than el Clasico? I don't think so, to be honest.
@HassanAshas- Define "bigger"? @richikhin The last 4 times these two sides met, there were 3 or more goals scored. But saying that, I predicted a 0-0 draw!
@richikhin This prediction is ridiculous by whoscored for sure. 1-0 to United is probably the most likely scoreline looking at the way both teams have started the campaign. It's laughable to predict 3-2.
@TacticalMastermind I'm going 1-0 to United too.
I'm going with a Skrtel red card. If not him, Lovren or Can.
@SlippinJimmy Skrtel or Lovren to score an own goal if not they'll make an error leading to goal
hello all, well man utd is the team that i support and i strongly think they will be better in this match than liverpool, a 2-0 or a 2-1 to mutd for me...#GGMU

This could be one of those big matches that ends up as a bore draw. Neither team has looked great going forward this season.
2 1 MU
@Dzyba In your dreams
2-1liverpool
0-0 or 1-1 both of these teams have struggled to score but have looked sharp defensively
@patricia.singh.14 Especially Liverpool v. West Ham
@hindy 4 games and 3 goals allowed that is okay
I feel like this is going to be a disaster..
Coutinho is banned due to suspension I think. Quite sure Man United would have signed a CF by the time this match comes round.
@Overmars Man United have paid a HUGE amount for Martial. Similar to the Di Maria fee.
@Overmars so basically in LVG's opinion Martial>Di Maria
@patricia.singh.14 Yes, which is nuts. Or he could prefer buying potential over the finished article, or he just didn't think Di Maria fit his 'philosophy'.
@Overmars How the hell is di maria a finished article he is 27 and has atleast another 5 years left in him its
@patricia.singh.14 I'm not saying he's finished as a player, I meant that he is one of the best players in the world already, while Martial has potential.
The winner will not be the team that playswell but the team that doesn't play the s***est.
@David20 Yeah, may the least sh*t team win, and that's coming from a Liverpool supporter. Going by most recent form, nobody knows what will happen. I think both teams will be very cagey and trying not to loose rather than trying to win. A stupid mistake by a defender will probably decide this.

Probably draw if present forms continue. Both teams have the chance against each other. I'd like to see a Liverpool win here.
Huge match, may the best team win.
