- Neymar is suspended for this one and misses the rest of the tournament, which is a huge blow to Brazil in their quest to land the Copa America.
- Fernandinho, Filipe Luis, Thiago Silva and new Liverpool signing Roberto Firmino are all one booking away from suspension.
- Dunga could name an unchanged side from the one that overcame Venezuela.
- Richard Ortiz is suspended for the meeting with Brazil, with Osmar Molinas expected to partner Nestor Ortigoza in the middle of the park.
- Lucas Barrios should start in attack with Nelson Valdez alongside him.
- The starting XI could be the same from the one that featured from the off against Uruguay.
Dribbles: 0 and 0! Is this Brazil? Is this Latin America?
On an analytive note, Derlis Gonzalez is an proven bright young prospect. I wonder why hasnt anyone bid for him yet, perfect for Cl football
valar morghulis !
What a shame for Dunga! Brazilian team is 10 times more expensive (excluding Neymar, the info is from transfermarkt.com) than Paraguay's! What a scary and pathetic gameplay from Selecao!
No Neymar, no party
@bradley.fcb well brazil can do well without though. To be fair silva and potentially alves contributed to their loss. if there no handball brazil could not have lose. Though paraguay did play well.

Thiago choked again. What a bum he is during clutch situations, can't trust him or David Luiz. I'm sure we all remember him doing that for PSG too, it's no coincidence. He's a great defender no doubt but his mental mistakes are dumb as f*ck. Miranda was nice all tournament long but he's no leader, not proactive enough, not interactive or even passionate, he's very much like Filipe, keeps to himself and does his job very effectively, but in the end he's a follower. He can't be the captain.
karma. brazil got dues paid for sending off cavani when poked in his bottom karma and brazilian referee for stupid reason issued him yellow card. Jokes aside. Brazil really switched when they scored the first goal. Paraguay link up play and passes were dizzying more like Barca style. Though to be fair this match was for brazil to lose. Handball attemps by both Thiago Silva and alves. Both of them sabotaged brazilian victory. I don't really understand why would thigo silva use his hands on two high profile matches. The first i remeber was in cl and now here.
Firmino was lamentable for the 41 million€ price tag. Brazil dont produce top talents anymore it can be conclude , spain and france have overtaken them. Also portugal and germany are ahead of them.
@pulverizer Firmino is not a striker, he never was. He was called to the national team for playing number 10, and Dunga doesn't play him as a number 10. This is not Firmino's fault and doesn't take anything away from him as a player. If you watch his matches in Germany you will see.
Kudos to Paraguay, very resilient team. They're still undefeated... it was always gonna be close, just because it's Brazil doesn't mean it's that Brazil. This is one of the worst generations for canarinho and I'm not sure it's getting any better soon.
In modern times , brazil is not known for football but miss bumbum contest!
I can't believe some players won't just make sure they hit the target. They are too concerned about hitting the perfect penalty. It's most important to hit the target as proven by Paraguay's first two penalties that were just blasted down the middle (and Fernandinho's which took a lot of the keeper). Losing a shootout with two misses when the opposition keeper hasn't made a save is ridiculous lol
midget effect. silva(taller than me but small for cb) and dani alves hahahaha small dude only taller than messi can rely on their hands reach the heights of roque santa cruz by relying on their hands.
@Ffaris small is shaqiri not alves
@pulverizer in football and basketball all of us are small.
@Ffaris Silva: aerials won 80%, Alves: aerials won 100%. Both of Paraguay's centre backs are smaller than Silva. Gary Medel is playing cb very well in the tournament.
@TacticalMastermind valid point. gary medel doing well coz i have no idea. But maybe has not faced roque santa cruz yet lol.
@Ffaris Medel is simply a very good centre back. He was also good in the world cup at centre back. Strong build and is actually decent in the air despite his height. Good on the ball too. It's just a shame clubs are scared to play him in his best position (centre back) when he has proven he is a very good centre back at international level.
@TacticalMastermind well coz he is also good at defensive midfield position. Adrino Gallani marketed him new Gattuso. Though ur rite his best position so far seems to be cb. well seems to me ur quite authority on football.
Never seen in my whole life a Brazilian team this weak. Sad for football, sad for Brazil. In the world cup they where top class, maybe not the bests, but good. Since Dunga it's just worst. Can't wait for him to leave.
@T0ny04 problem are the mediocre players too.
That's poor from Thiago Silva.
Let's see. What a chance.
Cmon Paraguay , play like you did in 2010
Firmino is average player , liverpool should've gone for Vitolo or Lacazette
@asinko Firmino was good amongst an average team. He is like robinho kinda
@asinko lol ur saying vitolo is better than firmino haa
@JackLFC well he is spainish intl to be fair to him. Lacazette and vitolo are players who totally play in different position.
@JackLFC problem is you wont see that becoz you've already made a conjecture as firmino has signed for you.
Dani Alves is like a fine wine, he's getting even better with age.
Goal, but in the last minutes Paraguay was better. Hopefullly the match won't be boring. Dani Alves is still very good as at the last matches.
Firmino will score ...
im just suprised at why oscar cardoso was not selected. He was beast for benfica.
wat strange tourney this is. Chile against urugauy, argentina vs colombia and brazil vs paraguay. Are these organizer intentionally tying to eliminate super powers south america itentionally. Could be coincidence. But just V(V for Vendetta comics/movie) said:"There are no coincidences. Only the illusion of it."
@Ffaris He ran out of chances. If you look at his career stats he has a great scoring record at club level, but poor at international level.
@TacticalMastermind well lot players have problem for doing that intl levels should not mean not to be selected. Im not saying he should not in starting 11 but man he could be on the bench. He is quality no doubt abt it.
Draw
1-3
most of results were under. but dear whoscored insists that over. Why? I dont know
@Volverhampton welcome to whoscored.com the land where nothing makes sense. Just while back neumi complained that he saw germany attempt 5 dribbles whoscored.com had no record of this :)
Paraguay win.
1-0
So which is the bigger shame if you're Brazil, losing to Paraguay or losing to Argentina? Chances are it's gonna be one or the other.
@HandofGod losin 2 para
@asinko yeah, to lose to paraguay 2 out of 2 times in the past 2 copa americas might just be too much.
@HandofGod Cmon there's no shame in losing to either of those teams, Paraguay has already drawn against Argentina and Uruguay and have been one of the most consistent teams in the tournament, and Argentina is one of the best teams in the world so I don't see how that is shameful tbf. The problem is that people still think this is the same Brazil of Ronaldo, Dinho, Kaka, Rivaldo when it isn't. Every country has lows in generation talent and this is one of Brazil's worst while the rest of Sudamerica has some of their best generations ever. Also doesn't help when their best player gets banned whole tourney for a scruff, but other players can freely elbow people in the face or run into car accidents and not even get suspended one game. The bias is strong in Sudamerica...
@lolzzzzzzzz jeez ppl why hate for this guy reasonable post. The points he makes are quite valid. There is no doubt paraguay have been one of the most consistent team in south america.
@lolzzzzzzzz Perhaps, but considering the sheer population that Brazil has to pull talent, I think it is just to expect more for the Selecao. And considering the rivalry between Argentina and Brazil... well, you know. There is certainly going to be shame in a loss to either, it's but inherent in their futebol culture.
@HandofGod Ok fair enough, though losing to Argentina isn't that bad when they have a top 5 player all-time and Brazil has... but losing to Paraguay would be worse. Keep in mind that in 2011 Brazil didn't lose to Paraguay, it went to PSO where it's 50-50. That was the same Paraguay that almost defeated Spain in 2010 if Iker didn't stop that PK from Cardozo.
2-1
Paraguay is a dangerous team because they play up/down to their opponents, no matter who they are. Would be surprised if this isn't a close game by the final whistle.
